Re: Andromeda Mod?
Umm... most shipsets for SE4 will be convertible to SE5 easily. All you have to do is convert your models to .x, maybe smooth them out a bit, you are done. Making sets for SE5 will be identical to making sets for SE4, except you won't be able to make sets that are just screen captures from other games and such... though most sets are made from actual models for SE4 anyways.

Okay don't be posting just to knock the show....that's just immature

There is, of course, this thing called freedom of speech... expressing your opinion on something is not immature at all. Saying "it sucks" might be, but expressing dislike of the show is not immature. Personally, I think that Andromeda is a bit on the dull and corney sides.

Re: Andromeda Mod?
Fyron: It seems to me that a lot of the shipsets that are out there were done in Doga and Moray, and converting files from those to programs (at least on the moray side for sure) to anything else is going to be a reall pain. Doga should be easier then moray, as it was designed to be part based and import parts made in other programs. Secondly: Doga and Moray area both very simple programs compared to a lot of the more powerfull 3D modellers, also a lot cheaper. I think it will be much as the transition from SEIII to SEIV was, with the number of shipsets greatly decreasing, but the overal quality increasing.
Anyways: Back to andromeda. I enjoyed the early episodes of Andromeda, introduced a lot of cool tech and ideas. Creating a mod could be a lot of fun, I can already see a lot of the techs from andromeda already in SEIV. Unfortunately I stopped watching it during the second season as I thought the show was going downhill. Anyone want to fill me in on whats been happening and if there have been any cool new ships/technologies introduced?

Re: Andromeda Mod?
DOGA cannot be used for real-time 3d rendered games unfortunately. It produces models that are too "slow", that is you spend a lot of polygons for little detail. Bryce has the same problem. Moray would work IF you could get it to .x format..which IIRC you can't.

Re: Andromeda Mod?
I thought that a moray to .x converter (or was it .3ds?) had been made recently?

Re: Andromeda Mod?
Fyron: You may be right. I haven't had time to test it but I have found an extension that will suposedly let me export to .X format. If it works, thanks for the heads up, if it doesn't work, you suck!

To much trouble to be worth the effort.
