sacrificed against highly motivated and skilled truoops. The Turkish troops really beat up on the Allied troops. Even if the leadership was better the Allied troops would not have beaten the Turkish troops. They were very good soldiers. It was a very important victory for the Turkish.

I do not deny the Turkish were good. Here in Australia we consider the turkish honourable and worthy opponents who beat us, and don't forget they were led by the guy who went on to be the father of his nation (can't fight destiny). Its just things like the British sending us to the wrong beach.

Just like the Canadians at Dieppe. Poor planning by the British superior officers.

Was it? I thought it was due to underestimation of german defenses in Dieppe by Allied Commanders, resulting in a massacre.

Dieppe achieved its higher goals. While the raid itself was a failure due to the loss of life. It's ultimate goals were achieved. Thus the raid can be seen as a sucess. And if your going to just blame the British you must also add in the Canadian command who were itching to get into a good fight, and this goes all the way to the top (M-K)

The 1916 campaign in turkey was flawed from the get go. It would never have succedded. Geography and Defence would have beaten even the soundest of plans. It was just a poor location for an offence. And logistics proove this as well. Just look at the amount of water that a allied soldier received each day.

Just opinions.

Such as why does the whole world know about Erwin Rommel ?

In reality he was a minor general whos only success came after Battle of Beda Fomm when the british weakened the standing strenght to help with greece. He did not understand modern fighting from a area commander at all. Logistics were not understood at all. To be a quarter master under Rommel would have been very frustrating. His afrika corps used more supplies in a day than the big american corps in 1944. And with his level of consumption vs what was in storage and being delivered per day. Failure was the only outcome.

And it was.

I always felt that the British and Americans built up legends such as Rommel to cover up for the inferior equiptment they used against the Germans.
Maybe one day i will write a book about it to proove my point.

Yes, Dieppe was also the fault of the Canadian military command.

Terran C: Yes, the German defenses were formidable at that location, however, if the Canadian troops had had the air support they had been promised, the fight would have been more of a fight, and less of a massacre. However, for some reason, the air support was delayed, but the ground invasion went on anyways....in daylight. The raid had been planned for the pre-dawn hours so they would have the element of surprise on their side, but for some reason they were delayed, but decided to send the troops into the slaughter anyways.
