Wanting a Grizzly!
Would like to see if anyone here can mate an M1A2 MCBS hull with either a M728 turret or M1 turret with a short barrelled gun attached to it? The USMC has finally bought and is using the Grizzly in Afghanistan. It's simply a beast of an engineer vehicle and includes remote controll operation. Anyway, hoping someone can help.

Re: Wanting a Grizzly!
The vehicle which you speak of is the new ABV (Assault Breacher Vehicle), developed by the Marine Corps and is also being procurred by the Army. This vehicle can fit various plows/rakes to it, and also carries a box which can fire two MCLIC charges. This vehicle does not have a gun on it as did the M-728 of the M-60 series. The Breacher does mount a 50 cal though.

Randy, that's the vehicle. I wasn't planning on putting a gun on her, but figured for sake of making the icon, merge what's out there to develop an 80% solution. Don't make icons do you?

Re: Wanting a Grizzly!
Sorry I can't do icons. If I did there would be tons of stuff I could add. I don't think there are any breaching/combat engineering vehicles being made now that have guns on them. But an M1A1 with a 165mm demo gun like the M-728 CEV would be devastating!

It's not needed. The M908 HE-OR-T [High Explosive Obstacle Reduction Tank] round does the job as well or better than the 165mm gun did ( QUOTE...."It was found that a modification of the M830A1 high explosive multi-purpose cartridge (2-pound High Explosive warhead fielded in 1994) did as well as, if not better than, the 35-pound M123 warhead at reducing obstacles)
AND due to the way the game works ANY HEAT round will do the same thing.
and the Grizzly with the MCLIC mine clearing charge isn't something we model in the game either. Note how the game clears mines. That's not going to change. When you wait at a minefield and the game determines mines are cleared all of the necessary equipement and or men needed to do that is assumed to be working so I could put a Grizzly in MINUS the MCLIC but an Abrams MCBS does the same job game wise and has a nice big gun already attached

Re: Wanting a Grizzly!
For myself I'm trying to find out is if the USMC even uses the "Mine Clearing Roller System".
The USMC has, and uses the "Mine Clearing Blade System" but I've only seen the Roller version used by the US Army.

Re: Wanting a Grizzly!
All that I have ever seen on Marine tanks are plows.

Re: Wanting a Grizzly!
All you ex Marines can take a deep breath and relax. The offending roller system has been replaced with the blade system

Not "offending"...
Just "inaccurate"
