Re: Afghan Mod
To be fair there are not many sources about the 1946- mid fifties period, so some things (artillery and formations especially) are educated guesses.
The air force is relatively well documented. For the armor I relied mostly on pictures of vehicles on display in some military museum in Kabul and a reference I found in italian sources. I found bits of info here and there about rifles, LMGs HMGs and mortars. Artillery was not documented beyond a reference to "czech artillery" so I settled for czech 75mm mountain howitzers and the ubiquitous 18 pdr field guns to go with the rest of the british equipment. I left the 2 pdr antitanks guns and the Bofors AA, though who knows. Given that they were still apparently flying 30's biplanes as the main attack planes well into the second half of the 50's I bet the army was not swimming in modern equipment. It seems they remained a typical 30's third world army, with some WW2 surplus probably obtained from India, until they began getting soviet assistance.
