Default LA R\'lyeh dominion question

The dominion causes madness in the enemies commanders too?
How a non commander unit is influenced by insanity?
Thanks.

AFAIK, insanity won't make any difference to a non-commander unit, unless you happen to cast Gift of Reason on it sometime later.

AFAIK it does. I remember reading posts about people trying to send spies into R'yleh territory and having them being turned insane, then giving some random order which "unhides" them.

Yes, that's all part of the plan. You can summon Void Spectres to speed up the process too, if you're dissatisfied with the current level of enemy insanity.

I've never played LA Rlyeh in MP. But I really enjoy playing them in SP, and I always take dom 9 or 10 for maximum insanity spread. I seem to get better freespawn (void beings, yay!) when I've got tons of candles in my provinces. YRMV.

Results May Vary, perhaps.

It'll cause insanity in anybody and anything that isn't a void thingy, although MR might have an impact. Friendlies, enemies, stealthy types, your hordes of freespawn cultists, pretenders... everybody. And insanity is completely incurable, AFAIK.

/Although an 'Arkham Asylum: Enter for treatment', that reduced insanity by (2d6 - 1d6) might be appropriate.

I've been using an awake Ancient Kraken with Dom10, and he doesn't have a single speck of insanity as of year 3.

The pretender, void creatures/heroes and full-blood illithids seem to be immune to dominion insanity (I do have a few slightly insane Starspawn running around, but they probably had a couple turns in the void gate).

vfb: I've noticed, way too many times, that the Illithid commander you start with is NOT immune to the insanity of your dominion. He almost always becomes 'unreliable' for me (insanity 10+) around year 3. I generally prophetize a starspawn of some type now for my prophet.

Thanks! Now that I look, I see Yad Yith is Insane(11), and it's year 3.

I turn my scout into a prophet instead ... he's the only 'real' prophet that generates dom spread, but at maximum insanity, I get a couple more additional insane (50+) prophets every year. They might even do what I ask them to every once in a while .
