DOM3 L33T IMO!!!
I have quickly fallen in love with this game. It has inspired me to add my own ideas to an already abysmally deep game. I have a good amount of experience in modding and I am quite the artist in the 3 dimensional world of graphics. I need some practice making sprites using only pixels, but all my work will be original. My plan for right now is to put out a series of races, starting in EA and progressing through LA.
The basic storyline that I am considering is that of the Aria Nation. With heavy Norse influence, they begin as the children of the fallen Valhalla. As time progresses they get more twisted, ergo Ermor, but not progressing into death magic, but rather blood. Also I will be adding many spells to all Ages, especially LA. I plan to make them progress somewhat bass-ackwards. With heavier infantry in EA, progressing into a more magic dependent LA.
As my experience with TBS in general, especially one this complicated, is very limited, I will be in need of much help in the balancing department. So any and all input will be very much appreciated.
Thanks all in advance,
EmOrDoL

Re: DOM3 L33T IMO!!!
the sprites look better if you do them up big, then shrink them to the size where they look like "just pixels."
also, I dunno if you tried playing vanheim. but they are a norse nation with a touch of blood magic. they don't do the backwards age thing, but it seems similar. maybe you can just modify vanheim to reach your goals.

Hi. Ask, and ye shall receive.
One thing that can get you off to a good start is proper documentation. The links in my sig lead to threads where the Dom3 DB files have been posted. The DB is a series of spreadsheets that contains the stats of all units, magic sites, weapons, armor, independent population types and forts in the game. Magic item list is under construction but on a backburner right now.
You're going to need Open Office to read the DB docs, but they should come in quite handy for you.
The other resources you're going to need is the Spell Modding Guide by DrPraetorius. I'm not at all familiar with spell modding and the effets, but afaik that's the most comprehensive documentation available on the subject. There are some sprite number lists and other related stuff available elsewhere here, but right now it's 1:35 am here and I need to go to bed. I can look them up later.

Re: DOM3 L33T IMO!!!
Heh, another Heim nation. I suggest reading all descriptions of all Helheim, Vanheim and Jotunheim units and heroes (Helheim is only EA, Vanheim and Jotunheim are available in all eras). Easiest way to find out about the heroes would probably be to check Edi's spreadsheet for their id's and continue from there. There's also an independent "descendants of Aesir" poptype, but unfortunately I don't remember the in-game name of the race.
