IIRC Windows ME was simply the most terrible bugridden Windows ever..... IIRC the bugs from both 98 AND XP combined into one fantastic little moronic system.

I think ME was the most hardware dependent in terms of bugs.

For instance I had one system which refused point blank to even install. Got a new system and not having my copy of 98SE around decided to chuck ME at it and it worked like a dream with far less problems than I'd had with the 98SE system. Strange really

I've had ME on this machine since 01. Have never had a major crash, even through major hardware changes.

But minor crashes like this one yesterday.... countless. And the annoying thing is I end up fixing them and never really find out what the actual problem was. "Oh, look, I have apparently fixed it."

It seems that removing a certain amount of stuff from startup, reseating the vid and RAM, and whatever other 5hit I did in cleaning out the registry has got it up and running. Whatever.

Thanks to all who took the time to post. I honestly believe this is the friendliest community I've ever been a part of. Online AND OFFLINE, with the exception of maybe my church.

Turin
