Re: Simultaneous Movement
Possum,
MOST people don't explore with fleets. I've been known to do so in multi-player games (no, it wasn't me, I'm not IN any multi-player games right now!) because the other players are people too. By sending out fleets instead of individual scouts, you have a much better chance of a) not getting your scout slagged, and b) being able to take advantage of situations if you stumble into them, like bumbling into another players lightly defended colony or home system.
It happens. Sorry to hear you were on the receiving end of it.

Re: Simultaneous Movement
Here is a trick I use all the time. It works only for the planets you can see. Select a colony ship that has used all its movement points. Command colonize on all suspicious planets. If there is already a colony there then instead of getting a move-to track your ship has no orders.

ooh... nasty exploit. Sorry LCC but I think MM needs to squish that one...

Re: Simultaneous Movement
Could be they sent in a cloaked scoutship first and saw you was ripe for the picking and decided to eat. It's possible to get Stealth Armor quite fast so it's not impossible to get a cloaked ship early.

Re: Simultaneous Movement
Hmm, OK, well thanks for all the ideas, guys.
I'm mostly just concerned with figuring out how the game works in this context; the loss of one un-developed frontier colony was a minor deal

Re: Simultaneous Movement
i think that needs to be stopped by MM as well,
players like me with ancient tech can then see exactly which worlds have been colonised and thats just unfair.
ancient tech is good cause it lets me see the best systems to go to set up outPosts in without wasting time exploring the other empty systems, but being able todo what LCC has found is just not on IMHO.
