OT - MOO3 armor... OMG
I know MOO3 is screwed up... but God, I didn't know it was THIS screwed up...
http://www.ina-community.com/forums/...hreadid=288129
According to this thread, if you install some sort of armor, say, "Heavy Duridium", on a Leviathan (think baseship), then it gives you the SAME amount of hitpoints that it does on a Lancer (think escort)...
You might not think this is weird - after all, Armor III provides 40 HP no matter what size ship you install it on...
The thing is, in MOO3, armor is for the entire ship - YOU CAN ONLY INSTALL ONE PER SHIP.

Re: OT - MOO3 armor... OMG
I have purchased Moo3 (and GalCiv is in route), and currently I'm playing my first game.
Honestly, I have heard so bad comments, that expected a worst game than the game that actually I think it is!
Really I don't hate the game, although can't say that really like it (hey, it's not SE4!).
If QS release some patches fixing the biggest problems, personally I would like to play during some time.
By the way, what I really hate is the tactical combat: can't understand how a modern game could have a so bad engine. Even old games like Rebelion, Pax Imperia 2 and Supremacy, had better tactical combats... Then, I never play the tactical combats myself.

Re: OT - MOO3 armor... OMG
QS does have its first 'data only' patch out. The code patch is said to be in the works. MOO3 is not a 9/10 game, more of a 6.5/10 game (IMO), much promise but little carry over. (especially after playing seIV for soo long). But the game does have its interesting points. These being the different planet shipyards for different size ships (really like that idea), the planetary DEA's, System ships vs. Warp capable ships (REALLY like that idea) and the fact that MISSILES RULE!! After point defense is discovered in seIV Missiles rapidly become useless, in MOO3 they are possibly the best weapon with fighters right up there as well. Bottom line though is that MOO3 lacks the 'polish' of seIV, but then remember the non-gold seIV of years ago, the same complaints (lackluster AI, horrible UI, etc) were made of it, many patches and Gold status later it is a finished game, I think MOO3 is going the same way. (all IMO of course)

AFAIK, it is because Moo3 PD was broke and they fixed the bug in the first patch. Check out some "point defence is broken !" threads on their forum.

Re: OT - MOO3 armor... OMG
Yeah, you could get this "missiles rule" feature in SE4 by simply dividing PDC damage by 5, going to settings.txt and turning up the to-hit penalty for seekers, or just removing the PDC tech area from the list in the start game options.
