Default Components Pictures

Attached is a zip file with some component picture modifications.

BUT ... I am having trouble using them!

I took comp_275.bmp and renumbered the pic call for Ion Engine II in my components file to that, it was 9. It generates an empty box with a red boarder in ship design.

Does anyone know why?

Also I renumbered that engine to pic 250, just to see if that pic would load ... checking the 255 thing...Darn it if it doesn't generate a RCE on startup.

Anyone know what the heck is going on?

If I could figure out how this thing works I was going to post some component pic additions this weekend for you guys, but I'm not going to waste my time if they won't work or won't load.

Is this another bug or is there something I'm not doing correctly or don't know about here?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Seems that you haven't done important thing. These pictures contain only large images of components. The small ones are in components.bmp file (it is usually in the bottom of the folder if you use windows explorer). There you will see small images of all components in one large picture. You need to make new small pictures for your components (be careful of the size for the small component picture) and place them in correct slot. E.g. component #275 MUST be in exactly #275 position in that file (it goes from left to right). The best program to edit this is ACDSee.

Hope this helps, and don't hesitate to ask more if this isn't enough. I have been making large tech mod and added a lot more pictures (however, these are just a different color variations of already existing ones).

Hey! Thanks Daynarr. I didn't notice that there were 2 pics for each component, DUH.

I've been using Photoshop 6.0 and ACDC. Basically doing the same stuff you are for the components, changing their color.

I was also resizing and renaming the dreadnought pics.( down to 80% size ) I was going to name the smaller Version "Dreadnought" and the rename the original as "Baseship" and post those. Nothing fancy but it'll work.

I have been messing with theses graphic editors for only about 3 days. They are kinda fun. You can do some really easy expansions of the existing ship-sets by merely resizing and reshaping the exiting images(photoshop is awesome for this).

I was looking at the Earth Alliance ship set.
A few of the images are pretty cool but a lot looked are slapped in and some looks like they are 256 color. I am wondering if that should be a target of a real custom set built from scratch just for them.

I'm no artist, but I know some and they have already said they'd like to do some stuff. They are just a bit stuffed up at work right now but may get freer in a week or so.

Anyway, Thanks again for the quick reply Daynarr.
