A Solution For The Boarding Problem!!!
Remember how boarding is screwed up in that two escorts with one boarding party each can take over any ship, no matter how many Security Stations it has, because the first one destroys all the Security Stations? Well, I finally came up with a solution!
Create a "dummy" component that has the same family as the Security Stations. Call it "Security Core" or some such. Give it the Armor Regeneration ability, but not the Boarding Defense ability. It won't be wiped out by a boarding attack, but it will repair the Security Stations destroyed by the attack! (Unless the core itself is destroyed.)
Pretty neat, huh?

Re: A Solution For The Boarding Problem!!!
You are fixing a problem that doesn't exsist Ed. Security stations are not destroyed unless the boarding is succesful.
In fact this is only even a question in tactical combat. In strategic combat if your boarding ship can't succeed it won't even try.

Re: A Solution For The Boarding Problem!!!
True, SJ, though it might be a neat way to "fix" (or at least, change) the way that all boarding parties are destroyed during an attack. It's debatable whether that's really broken, or just really simplistic. It makes sense to lose some for casualties and to make a skeleton crew for the captured ship, but it is a bit weird that if you do "boarding overkill" with a ship with several boarding party components, even against a small undefended ship they'll all be destroyed. It's an option, anyway.

Agh, ya, I hate losing Messages to web forms.
Yes sachmo, security stations do not have the problem described.
