Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
In one of my PBW games I have just completed a black hole destroyer. How do I pre-set the ship's orders so that it destroys the black hole without getting sucked in first? It would be so embarrasing for that to happen...

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
Just give it movement so that it finishes it's turn more than two spaces away from the center. Shouldn't be any more difficult than moving through the system would be.

You can destroy the black hole from anywhere in the system.
So, warp in, and then destroy the hole while you're still near the edge of the system.

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
Geo and SJ, thanks for the help.
I'll send the ship in through the wormhole that is farthest away from the black hole, and then set the next turn's order for destruction. It will be nice to have it out of the way.
One more question for you: Does stellar construction work the same way? Can I do it from anywhere in the system, or do I need to go to the center of the system to create a new star (where the black hole used to be)?

You can make a star anywhere in a system

... and that's where the star will be. So you can get a star in the corner, or whatever.

PvK and Arkcon, thanks for the information on creating stars.
It's interesting that you can create a star anywhere in the system. I wonder if there is any strategic benefit from that? Personally, I'm inclined to put it in the center. I'm a traditionalist, I suppose.

I thought it was required. I still did it in the center even when I found out otherwise 'tho.... well, one sector to the side, just to assert my unique stamp on the quadrant.

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
Strategic benefit? Placing it as far from warppoints as possible will help slow down enemy sun-busters. (A system near the edge of the map may have all WPs on one side)
Alternatively, you could place the star on a warppoint, eventually generating a ringworld to use as warppoint defense
Probably easier to just move the warppoints around the star instead.
You may also want to place the star on an asteroid field, so that you get a sphereworld with a planet and/or moons.
That type of situation is good for training facilities.
It would also allow your planet to defend against sunbusters with the full benefits of spaceyard and huge cargo space for fighters and such.

And you could build the sphereworld components using the faster planetary yards rather than ship shipyards..
