I do however have a question, i have downloaded some graphics programs, like doga, but if anyone would be kind enough to tell me or point me to a reference on HOw to create my own empire Sorry for my ignorance i just dont know
THanks guys

Re: Hey All
Welcome!
Check pages 82 and 83 in your manual. Those paragraphs outline what graphics are needed for creating a race.
The AI files are quite a bit more involved to create. All of the information is held in text files. Each file has a header that briefly describes what the different entries are for.
You are in for a good time. This is the most customizable game I have ever seen.
Good Luck!

Re: Hey All
Welcome Rojero!
Well Atrocities had written a shipset creation tutorial but I can't seem to find it.
A good way to start with all files needed is to start with a renamed copy of one existing race, note that the name of the directory, must be the same name that the beginning of the names of all files inside.
And then edit pictures replacing their contents and the description and some other details in the AI files.

You don't need to create your own ships, imagewise, to make your own empire.
EMP files can be created from within the SE4 game; here you select WHICH set of images to use -- from among the sets that come with the game (called "stock" shipsets), or form among those you have downloaded.
The PBW site has a large number of such sets available, and their links section (or a websearch perhaps) should direct you to websites specialising in shipsets (typically called "shipyards" around here ).
Lastly, let me extend an invitation to you to join the Space Empires IRC channel, on gamesnet.net (through your IRC client: east.gamesnet.net, port 6667, channel #se4).
If you haven't an IRC client, I suggest getting mIRC (others may recommend Trillian, but I know mIRC myself). It can be had from www.mirc.com
You can usually find various members of the community there, and if you wish to discuss some element of gameplay or another, we'd probably be all too happy to oblige you.

Re: Hey All
If you have SEIV Gold, the shipset tutorial by Atrocities is on the CD. A brief guide on the nameing convention and file sizes is at the end/back of the "old" pre-gold SEIV manual.
