Fighter Bay Armor Type
Ok Idea I believe I haven't seem in any of the MOD out there , fighter bay with the destory first tag. Basicly this means that the fighter are attach to the outer hull of the ship or flight deck. The Comp could hold maybe 2 small fighter at lvl 1, and go on with there. This would work for small explore and defense ship, add to their fire power, armor and give them esay scouts. The armor could be half of what lvl 1 is and rise very little from there. Just a idea what U guys think.

Re: Fighter Bay Armor Type
I post similar idea about solar sails some time ago - surely they are protruding from armored hull ! External fuel tanks and fighter bays are easy to visialize as well.

Re: Fighter Bay Armor Type
Someone once posted an idea for an external supply tank. Such a component had the armor attribute, and didn't take much space so you could carry tons of stuff. You just had to be sure you defended the ship.
Maybe we could as MM to include an armor mount. Any component with that mount takes, I dunno, 30 % less space, but is destroyed first.
I don't know if it's unbalanceing. How about if I put tons of them on a dreadnought. If they don't take up much component space what's stopping me from abusing this.

What about a heavy carrier? 200 kt extra and faster than a baseship.

You're right, also the large transport hull holds more engines than a dreadnought for the same hull size. I guess the balance arises when you consider the amount of research it takes to get these hulls. Or not.
SE3 had areas of each ship. An inner hull, outer hull and an armor slot. You could put components anywhere. I guess people would like the ability to give any component the armor attribute to gain some more space.
Can we already do this? Make a mount for components the decreases space taken for the component and gives the component fewer hit points?

Dreads can mount ANYTHING, large transports have to mount 50% cargo components. Ditto carriers.

Re: Fighter Bay Armor Type
A bit late on this, but:
In the B5 Mod, there are two types of 'external' fighter mounts that make use of the armor idea. The External Fighter Rail and the Launch Catapult.
The armor ability is also given to External Cargo Pods.

You can do this, but it wouldn't be a mount - it would be a duplicate Version of the component, with the Armor attribute and smaller size and fewer hitpoints.
