Default Downsize maps and game balance.

If I reduced the maps size of a scenario down to 20x30 does that effect the gameplay and balance of the scenario? What have you and other players experienced when doing this? The maps are too overwhelming for me to wrap my head around.

Secondly playing on free version, will the higher resolutions, 1920x1080 for me, make the game easier to "wrap my head around"?

Thanks for any input you give.

DRG will become famous soon enough
Exclamation Re: Downsize maps and game balance.

You will need to adjust your points values lower otherwise it will be to crowded so experiment with that. The game can handle smaller maps. I prefer to use them

Yes the desktop resolution you can access with the paid version WILL make playing easier for you

Umm..., what is "a scenario"?

If by scenario you mean editing an existing scenario I imagine reducing the map size will break the scenario.

If you're talking about a generated battle using a small map size I think it will work fine. You might want to adjust the number of on map victory hexes.

With small maps mobility is less of an issue. APCs are probably not worth the points. Leg infantry or slow moving, but heavily armoured AFVs won't have too much ground to traverse - i.e. low speed is not much of a problem. I guess most artillery better be off map...

Hi. I understand your situation. I was also lost at the beginning, especially since I don't speak English.
It helped me to play short scenarios with small to medium-sized maps. There is a scenario finder that filters the number of turns and I don't remember the size of the maps.
Otherwise, create generated battles with small maps until you master the game better.
