BIG Problems
I'm typing this on my wife's laptop. My computer locked up and I have no access to it at all and that includes all my email addresses and obviously none of the work done to date on either game.
Right now I am dead in the water until I can have this looked at by a tech.
The 2021 updates are now on hold until if / when I can get this sorted out. This could be a minor blip or a total disaster on a number of levels
EDIT
After typing that I came downstairs back to my computer and it had finally fully booted up after 10 failures so I'm not out of the woods yet but I DO need to have this problem investigated and ( likely ...) get a new computer and all the fun getting everything set up again.
FURTHER EDIT
As I was typing this got a MS notification that there is a windows update so this MIGHT just be the curse of MS updates again. I have found that anytime my computer starts acting up a MS update is not far behind and all of this might/ maybe be the result of that......it certainly has NOT made my day more joyous!
I am running a BU ATM which should catch all the work I've done on the game since the last BU which will avert total disaster but this day started off weird and has just gotten worse

Re: BIG Problems
Yikes!
Hope you get it resolved easily and quickly, for your sanity!
(I hate to think how I would react to having no computer - it's my only real link to other people!)

Re: BIG Problems
Yes "yikes" indeed ! NO JOY here ATM ( well a little now that it actually fully booted up instead of locking up after the desktop loaded )
Once the BU is done I will run the MS update and see if things go more smoothly but I am thinking I will turn off the auto update feature and just start checking if there are updates available. EVERY TIME my computer has started acting wonky there has been a MS update within a day of two . In this case one hour
I HAD planned for a vastly different day today.........

Re: BIG Problems
Good news......... the BU was completed then the MS update was installed and the computer booted up just fine.
Crisis averted ( for now........) but I was not in a happy place for a while.

Re: BIG Problems
I feel for you set updates to alert you or download but not install & then alert you. You can then install them at a convenient time & roll them back if there is a problem. I have had 2 big issues with updates in the past, both were fixed a couple of days later by Microsoft updating the update so if its not urgent you might want to wait a couple of days before installing it.

Re: BIG Problems
I think its only the full version of Windows 10 where you can defer updtaes, not the Home version?.
Anyway mine is full, and today insisted on shovelling in the latest batch. That was 4-5 hours of loading and restarting, oh sheer joy!

Re: BIG Problems
I wish mine would update to the latest version...hits 65% and stops cold and then restarts and says sorry can't do it. And people wonder why I am not a fan of technology at times.

Re: BIG Problems
Had similar problems, but to be fair Windows Defender is now so good that methinks hassles with updates are worth it. Saves coughing up buckaroonies for extra anti-virus protection.
