but this didn't keep him from his military obligations as an infantryman fighting in the PLA. Sadly, Chen was killed in the "Fearsome French" scenario attempting to take a hill in Korea someplace.

Chen's infantry squad was observed having a top speed of 50mph over uneven terrain - astounding the french defenders. The fastest infantry unit in SPMBT - but in the end not fast enough.

I don't understand why the PLA would group a whole squad of Flash Gordons together - seems like they would be more useful as runners or special forces work - Not taking part in a mass assault on a hill.

That unit (#312) has the correct speed in my OObs.

What version of the game are you patched up to?
As a quick check to see if you have the correct one, look at unit #497, ZBD-04 AFT-10 in mobhack. That SPATGM unit was introduced in the latest patch, IIRC.

It's a scenario glitch.........probably like that since that scenario was built. Speed is not something that shows up in Scenhack.

Now fixed........I THINK that unit was intended to be boosted to 9.......there are others that have been and it ended up 99

FURTHER EDIT.........I'm almost certain now that was meant to be changed to speed 9 and it ended up 99 in error. There are a number of units that Bill changed to make the Chinese troops a bit zippier in that scenario and it follows that was supposed to be as well ( but NOT 99......)
