Question Modding - Oh Yeah!!

I'm REALLY looking forward to modding and hope the guide is helpful. Will it be possible to add functionality (ie code)?

I hesitate to answer that question based on your signature:

Hmm. Honestly its just bravado. But I do like to program things, especially those that seem to be "fixed" in function, like little tiny wireless routers, and moddable games. I really enjoyed the Weird Worlds franchise because you could mod them, but only the text files which was a lot. When I first came across your game I was wondering if it was related (both are "rogue like" space sims and both have a concept of infinity in the title). Of course theirs is a short duration game without exo-ship exploration and yours is really a rogue-like. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to the game proper and it's mod support.

I was trying to be funny. I'm very glad you're here, Cyberis. I can see you contributing a lot in the future (especially since I see you contributing a lot in the present).

We are not related, but I have played their games. Don't know if they've played mine.

So for "modding support", no you can't add or modify the code. However, the vast majority of the game's files are plain text, and the modding guide covers the functionality of each field in each moddable file.

You could add or alter monsters, devices, terrains, starting ships, quests, etc. Sounds and images are also easily moddable.

I really need to get back to work, but welcome, and please continue to contribute!
