Bug: Niefel Jarl enslaved transformed in Great Eagle ?

I don't know if this is a bug or not (you never really know with this game), maybe someone around here will have an anwser !

So I ended up winning this battle (I play Pangaea) :

My objective was to neutralize Niefel's SC with a combination of Charm/Enslave Mind. They had low MR and I had high Penetration.
It worked for one of them. I saw it during the battle : I think it was an Enslave Mind (not sure), and one of the Niefel Jarls turned against his ancient brothers, two turns before they fled.

The problem is, after the battle I can see no Niefel Jarl in my army ! I'm sure the giant didn't die during the battle, I saw him standing next to my tarrasques, taking plenty of poison damage right after the last turn of battle, and surviving.
So no giant, but instead, I got this :

How the hell did this Great Eagle appear and join my army ?
Now look closer at it : it has experience, vulnerability to fire and cold power... So there's no doubt about it : the Niefel Jarl converted into a Great Eagle...

Can anyone explain this ?

Tjatse, the Abductor, is a Jotun hero (and an excellent one at that). He has a great eagle form that boosts his air magic to A4. If you GoR the eagle you'll be able to switch between it and his jarl form. Unfortunately, you won't get any magic paths. Too bad he didn't get hit with charm as then he'd still be a commander and you'd have access to his magic.

Yeah me too. Always new stuff to discover

However i don't understand why he wouldn't get his magic path ?
When you GoR a mage you get back his magic skills no ? (you just lose the stuff... for some odd reason)

I think he meant that you dont get magic paths because he was enslave minded and not charmed

If you GoR, he won't be able to transform back?

It's kind of flaky (as is so much in this game ).

When you GoR the eagle, you get a commander Great Eagle that, quite logically, has no magic. The flaky part is that it is still an "Abductor" that can change shape into a Jarl. But the Jarl has no magic, I guess because the GoR was done on a eagle.

Yes, that's right. I think what happens is when enslave mind pulls the unit info it works exactly the way wish does. When you wish for Abductor you get the eagle form (which doesn't have magic paths) - not the jarl form.

Note, too, that if you enslave a mage random magic paths are rerolled during this process so when you GoR them they won't necessarily have the same paths they had previously.
