Lvtp5 / Lvtp7
...
I need someone who has access to Janes or another GOOD legitimate source of info to look up the posted land and water speeds for the LVTP5 and the LVTP7
I DO NOT NEED........anyone looking it up on wiki or deagel or military factory or ANY source on line. I've done that...... I don't need it done again.

Re: Lvtp5 / Lvtp7
Don,
Sorry didn't read all stopped at wiki, however unless someone has an old edition of JANES covering the years they were in service that'll be a wash out, also I don't believe even if you subscribe to the online subscription service they maintain a full equipment archival data base.
Regards,
Pat

Re: Lvtp5 / Lvtp7
A 6 knots (6.9 mph) water speed has been quite consistent in my notes on the LVT-5.
7 to 8 knots (8 to 9 mph) is the range I have for the LVT-7.
I believe the early models were on the lower end then an engine upgrade brought them to the higher end, then with the conversion to the AAV model (different turret, more armor, new engine) they went back to the lower end.
But then does 1 mph one way or the other matter *chuckles*
Sorry I don't have any source references for you. Maybe you can consider it independent confirmation.

Re: Lvtp5 / Lvtp7
From Janes World Armoured Fighting Vehicles:-
LVTP-5 - 48 kph land, 11 kph water
LVTP-7 - 64 kph land, 13.5 kph water. According to 'Armoured Fighting Vehicles' by Philip Trewhitt, the LVTP-7A1 (with an engine upgrade) went to 72 kph on land, but no difference in the water speed is given.

Re: Lvtp5 / Lvtp7
The information I have which is from, "Marines Under Armor" by Marine Lt. Colonel Ken Estes, is: the LVTP7 has a water speed of 8.4 mph, and a ground speed of 45 mph. The current AAV7 is about the same. For the LVTP5 water speed is 6.8 mph, and the ground speed is 30 mph.

No matter how solid the data is there are always variations between sources.

If there wasn't your job wouldn't be nearly as fun.
