Default Strands of Arcane Power

Does anyone knows exact algorithm or something about it?
Does it make several checks every turn? For each land in dominion? Depands on levels in each path of magic? There are many questions.

Path strength doesn't matter. Chance to search any of your provinces in your dominion from 1-3 in each path the caster has, dominion strength didn't appear to make any difference.

Really? Because I always heard that path strength did matter. If you only have 1F you will never search higher than 1F.

I tested this just now, and it seems my information is incorrect. A f1 mage can search for higher levels. But it looks like higher paths levels do give higher chances of high level search. (I got a lot more lvl 3 searches in astral which was high, than in fire, which was 1).

3 is the max that is searched. And you cannot search in holy iirc. And dominion does matter, as you only search in your own dominion. (And I have a suspicion that high dominion level also mean more searches, as the cap is always the best searched during tests).

I've used SoAP in several games (MA Rlyeh, MA Bandar Log), and found that it can be very powerful in late game with Wish of "magic power" and Ring of Wizardry. With this combination you'll find almost all sites in your dominion in couple of turns, and gain decent protection from invasion as side effect

I think you only search for a fraction of your path. I had a pretender with nine in paths adn with arcane strands he was only pulling threes.

I think.

threes is max. You cannot find more. And with only 1 in a path you can still find 2's. So the conventional wisdom is wrong.

I strongly disagree.

1) It seems that you don't search any higher than you have paths. If you want full benefit you need at least 3's across the board.

2) I have noticed that the high dominion provinces are generally fully searched before the low dominion ones, although in the end everything of mine with dominion will be searched.

Okey, third time. I TESTED THIS! THIS IS NOT TRUE!

f1 mage searched for at least f2! And I even saw a n1 mage search for n3.

(Same with other level 1 paths).

Test it out yourself, download the debug mod, make a high S all other paths at 1 pretender, and set nr of provinces to 9. And then, wait.

Higher paths do increase the chances of a search and increase the chances of higher level searches.

Well, because most of you are probaly to lazy to test it. I uploaded a screenshot. Qilla is the one who casted the strands spell.

Maybe it's just a low probability situation. I've watched things not get scanned until I had the caster wish for magic power.

This was after 2 or 3 turns. After around 6 turns of dom10 spread. With a prophet.
