Default Which is the better choice?

Many times, especially in the MG area, you have a choice between a weapon with better accuracy with a lower kill vs. a weapon with less accuracy but a better kill. Is one a better choice or all things considered it doesn't make much of a difference?
Thanks.

It does not make a great deal of difference in the great scheme of things. Overall, I would go for HE kill as the choice with all other factors being equal, unless accuracy is maybe 2-3 times the other's.

A few hexes more range is much more important - the old maxim-style water cooled weapons usually are given 30 range vs 24 for most GPMG types (24). I'll have a WW1 steam-driven Vickers, MG08 or maxim any day (provided I don't intend to move it far!) - especially in the desert or the steppes. Cheaper than a 12.7.

Is the scope factored into the accuracy or range of Germany's heavy MGs?

If you look at the weapons list you will see the answer is yes, there is an accuracy and range bonus for the HMG version of the MG34/42 guns

I havent tested this extensively or anything, but my gut reaction is kill is more important than a small increase in accuracy. Just seems to play out that way.

I guess I like to move my MG's up closer, so I usually end up firing from 14-16 hexes. Far enough that the poor grunts can't retaliate.

The one advantage of the 12mm's is that they can hurt tin cans, like a lot of the armoured cars, polish tanks, halftracks etc. Im not sure thats really worth the risk a lot, but it's a nice back up capability, especially for early war soviet infantry that tends to be completely lacking antitank weapons
