brave archer indy commanders
i have noticed, that if i attack horse tribe cavalries or villains with only longbowmen and a small decoy, then the enemy stay in place and fires exept their commander, who bravely moves into a closer distance before shooting, just to get more easily killed and induce a rout. Very courteous habit, i wonder why they do that. any ideas?

I strongly suspect he has a shorter range. Sounds like a bug.

Re: brave archer indy commanders
Commanders do have the "fire rear" command, but I thought the ai would just fire closest.
I suspect it would be shorter range but it would have to be checked

Re: brave archer indy commanders
Even if he was just on "Fire none" instead of Fire closest, it could easily produce this behavior as several of the targeting commands including that one pick random targets then focus on the squad the random target is in.
Which is generally bad unless you have really high range...
