AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
How have you seen the AI use stellar manipulation?
I tried one game with no warp points, and when the various AIs built warp point openers, they started using them like mad. Now, in a an all-warp-points-connected game, the Rage built a warp point opener a few turns ago, and all it does is sit at the planet where it was built.
The AI is using planet creators consistently, and I have had the AI use a black hole crearor against me in the past.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the AI to use the warp point opener in a game where everything is already connected?

Re: AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
Alpha - I played a game with the Last patch 1.41? and the AI races were using openers against me like crazy. Several races were using them (both default and mod) - this was a connected game. However, like you I have seen other games where the AI will build them and not use them at all. I do not know what triggers it, but they do use them.

Re: AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
Yes, I have, and it is chaos. I mean that, they open warp points all over hell and back and sometimes to the same system repeatedly.
I often disable that technology so I don't have to worry about it.

Re: AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
Anyone ever seen them use Planet Destroyers?? And as for star destroying/black hole creation do they do this 'smart' or do they blow themselves out of the water while doing it.
"Captain! We have done it! We created a Black Hole. Umm.....Unfortunately it was created in the middle of the fleet!"
I just have visions of the AI destroying perfectly colonizable planets and wrecking their whole empire by opening a black hole in their home system to destroy an enemy frigate or something.

Re: AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
I have only seen them use Warp Point closing tech.
Was partnered with them and I didn't pay much attention to this lone ship floating about in my homesystem. They closed a WP which effectively cut my empire in two, and I hadn't developed any stellar manip yet.
Worst I have seen.

Re: AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
I did see one AI in v1.49 use a warp point closer to stop a large scale attack from another AI. In that instance, it seemed like an intelligent use of the tech.

Re: AI Use of Stellar Manipulation
I have seen a neutral AI open a warp point in a game where not all warp points were connected. The neutral AI opened the point, but then never used it. Following 'the rules,' all good neutral AIs should never leave their own systems - and this one did not, even after building the warp point. But then why did the neutral AI build the warp point at all? -Tsukku-
