I think I'd like a island map
Anyone have/know of a really good island continents map? Maybe 10-20 hex islands with oceans surrounding. Say at min of 4-5 islands.

Re: I think I'd like a island map
For SP or MP?
The AI is terrible at island hopping and will not use sailing to make the jump across water. It will only randomly forge items that make units amphibious and even then will not use them properly.
Bottom line is the AI cannot deal with getting land nations across or through water.

You mentioned minimum but not maximum.
Also, is this to extend game time? Extend time to buildup for bigger late-game action?

Re: I think I'd like a island map
MP- so no one feels too harried in the beginning. I find on normal maps in this type of game I burn myself out so it's not fun- just keep pushing my expansions until I hit an enemy and hold there while expanding in all other directions.

Re: I think I'd like a island map
I could see an island map as somewhat fun and interesting, but I suspect that there would be some severe nation balance problems.

Re: I think I'd like a island map
Check out my smaller Tower Map.
http://www.dom3minions.com/maps.htm
It might do what you want. It forces everyone to have only one enemy on each side of them for most of the game.
The larger versions (altho I prefer the pipe version) are great for playing long solo games with lots of nations but avoiding much of the micro-management that giant maps create. It makes it easy to play into plate game with only a couple of small front-lines to have to managment. At least its a very different game.

Re: I think I'd like a island map
I feel like I've seen semi-similar maps to what you're after, but I cannot remember where. Maybe one of elmokki's? I don't think there'd be a problem with island maps as long as you either played with nothing but sailing/amphibious nations, or went with ports that allow points of access across the water for nations without amphibians/sailing.

Re: I think I'd like a island map
I would actually want to play island map with no water/sailing nations. Yeah that tower map looks like a good fit for the idea too, thanks. Now I just need the game to come and for some ppl to want to play it.
