Default Will SEIV ever be affordable in Canada? - Richard Arnesen please help!

Hello all,

I've been playing the SEIV demo on and off for nearly a year waiting for Malfador/Shrapnel Games to bring the game to Canada. Although we have a small population, the long wintry nights have made Canadians one of the most Internet savvy and game addicted countries in the world - making Canada a lucrative market for excellent products like SEIV.

I've got friends interested in the demo, but when they see the $90+ price of a single SEIV game (see the calculations below) - they lose interest! Especially when top-quality brand name games can be had for half the price retail. The result is no one in my town plays this wonderful game - what a shame!

The mandatory 'FedEx International Priority' at nearly $18 USD is especially painful - why can't Shrapnel Games give us a break with much cheaper ground service? We won't mind the extra wait.

So, what would it take to get Malfador and Shrapnel Games to make the price more attractive for the Canadian market?

More, importantly, does anyone know of any Canadian distributor of SEIV who understands us?

Still waiting

I would love to but we have not had one single Canadian distributor that was interested.

If you know of any or any small shops or chains please have them contact me.

You can however get it via relatively cheap shipping from Chips and Bits.

Ouch... relatively cheap shipping is: $81.56 CDN from Chips and Bits , with lowest price shipping.

Still, I think It will be worth the price. I'll know for sure on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, when it gets here.

As for a Canadian Distrib, where do you live? I used to know a little game shop in Vancouver that could get me almost anything.. but the name escapes me for now. Online distrib.... possibly www.dragon.ca

Since you guys were so helpful to us back during Prohibition, maybe we should return the favor and load up the truck with copies of SEIV and head north.

daimyo,

It looks like you're going to have to cough up the $85 that I did Last January. It's unfortunate that no one will will distribute the game here. Plus, if they did it would probably be close to the same price anyway so it wouldn't make much of a difference.

It took less than a week for it to get to me in Toronto, but I'm not sure how long it takes to get to Western Canada...

PS I don't remember getting hit by GST though...

The price for shipping Space Empires IV to Australia was about the same, but with an exchange rate of 50c to the US$ it jacked the price up to AU$110.

New release Computer games in Oz, retail at between $100-$120

Fortunately I got my wife hooked on the demo so she agreed to the purchase.

It arrived in only 5 day too - so Thanks Shrapnel.

We are both in our first PBW now, but I'm not saying which one...

Ah well... chips n bits did say 7 - 10 days.

As for location: Kamloops, BC, Canada.

I should have dished out the extra cash for a courier.

*returns to less important things... like studying for midterm*

Wow, nice to meet you Saxon. I'm constantly amazed how small the world is.

I'm actually from Logan Lake, but living at the McGill dorms while attending UCC. How long ago did you move from Kamloops? I think you would be absolutely amazed at the growth lately with well over 80K. And a Massive Superstore, Costco, Wall-Mart, and more.

Swing by http://www.city.kamloops.bc.ca/ for some old memories.

Future shop is seriously faded now. They moved to the other side of the mall, double their current size, and their game section actually shrunk. Online deals and small shops are much better.

I feel your pain for the shipping costs for Nairobi.

(Day #9 of the 7 - 10 day shipping from Chips and Bits for SEIV. *Twitch**Twitch* It will be here tomorrow... really....*TWITCH*)
