Old mages and mapmove 2?
Been looking for info on this here but found none. Guess there is no magic object that can help?

Re: Old mages and mapmove 2?
Give thanks that they're not mapmove 1?
Try items that give flying ability, e.g. the flying carpet.

Re: Old mages and mapmove 2?
Thanks,
No, no, the title of my thread meant if old mages (usually mapmove 1) can have mapmove 2 by any means? I have not found any with mapmove 2 yet.

Sure, it can happen. Take a regular, mapmove 2 mage and cast Decay on him, or use Burden of Time to age the whole world, and he will keep his Mapmove 2 even when he gets old. In fact, you could have an Old Age mage with mapmove 3 if he was undead (undead aren't old until 1000 years IIRC).
However, I think all of the old age mages in the game also have mapmove 1 because it's thematic and logical, just like all of the mounted units are given higher-than-normal base encumbrance because riding a mount is fatiguing.

Re: Old mages and mapmove 2?
What is the question? Are you asking if there's a way to get rid of old age AND if there's a way to increase mapmove? There's a blood spell that removes 10 years of age per casting IIRC. Flying items are the only way to increase MapMove, although obviously items like Gate Stone and spells like Stygian Paths/Faerie Trod/Teleport can substitute for mapmove too.

Re: Old mages and mapmove 2?
give them flying items. that will increase their map move. also, there certainly are old mages w/ mm 2 - the bakemono sorcerers, for example.

C'tissian Sauromancers (LA), most Abysian mages, Bakemono and Machakan sorcerers, Marignon inquisitors.. These are only a few examples. There're a lot of old mages with mapmove 2.

Re: Old mages and mapmove 2?
I stand corrected. This game's too big for me!
