Default Monolith Armour

I was ready about Monolith Armour and have a couple of questions.

1. Is it better all the way around than Asterlik (gold armour next to it when looking to forge)

2. If you have Undead Pretender and Boots of Calius (so it doesn't hurt your spellcasting) Instead of Armour of Virtue (so you can stay and fight instead of bugging out) should you even bother with undead, or perhaps put it on your prophet.

#, I have looked at it adnausium and can't figure out the best way to use it (Monolith)...

Your thoughts

Slap it on a Poison golem or a feebleminded Tartarian - some big guy who doesnt have to buff himself. Otherwise, fatique will just kill you.

Both are armours that are best on non-spellcasters, or ones that need one or at most two buffs before they go into melee. You'll need reinvigoration in such cases. They also either need to go on units that don't take fatigue for fighting, or you'll need reivigoration at astronomical levels. A decent SC/thug with Heroic Endurance already could make use of them, for instance.

After that, Monolith armour I think grants regeneration, so may be better on undead thugs or elemental royalty which can regenerate, rather than lifeless ones that can't. Aseftik's armour is not quite as good armour and has no regen, but it's got an MR bonus that may be extremely useful on a SC.

Monolith Armour + Barrier + Winged Shoes = Flying Tank

Wouldn't Boots of Calius with 10 Reinvig cancel out the Encumberance and if it was a flying unit already take care of all that.

So like a POD would be a Province killer.

Question on armour as long as we are talking about it.

Armour of Virtue...does that take the WHOLE army home of just the person wearing it. And is it the first scrath the commander gets that takes him home or when his hit points get low? (BIG Difference)

Would you rather have the amour of Virtue on your pretender POD using the same example or the Monolith armour with the other artifacts mentions.

Well, you have to keep in mind that the enemy gets a chance to strike you before reinvig works.

SC with 10 enc. and 10+x reinvig
SC strikes - fatigue=10
Enemies attack - fatigue=still 10 => 10% critical hit chance
SC reinvigs. fatigue=0
repeat

Critical hit roll is 2d6-(fatigue/15). If the result is under 2, you take a critical. 10 fatigue is not important in that case.

The problem with spellcasting is you take 2x armour encumbrance. Even with Boots of Calius you won't really want to work as a spellcaster - still just a buff or two - and messenger boots would work well enough to recover fatigue from that. Boots of Calius would make SCs viable with units that do get fatigue fighting, like seraphs.

It's that low?
Anyway even with fatigue < 20 I get very powerful hits ever so often. Maybe that's just the DRN but it doesn't seem to happen to units with 0 fatigue.

Monolith should let you get off a single Soul Vortex and suck the life out of some surrounding peasant militia or PD. So a Wraith Lord or D3+ Tart or Vampire Lord would work nicely.

I had one fight against R'lyeh with a Wraith Lord who cast Soul Vortex and then promptly got paralyzed by Illithids. He won the fight just because even though he was paralyzed most of the battle, Soul Vortex continued to kill the R'lyeh units until R'lyeh routed. A Vine Shield helps.
