Default What's sides have gone through major changes?

I've just picked the game back up after a year away, and I see a lot of changes to the game and cool extra, but I'm curious whether any have changes how particular sides are played and how? Also I'm curious about the new sides, but I'll just play around with them to get an idea.

MA Ulm got quite a boost, Jomon is the most recent one to get new stuff and MA Mictlan got a serious overhaul a few patches back. Marverni was boosted at some point or another, but whether it was a year ago or less I don't remember.

As for how the changes affect things, Baalz just posted a new guide for MA Ulm, which is pretty detailed.

LA Atlantis also got some new underwater recruits to help against R'lyeh. LA R'lyeh has a large domkill effect now on its populace.

Ermor's domkill effect was also boosted significantly. Less money for castles and temples.

The biggest change in terms of game impact is that Ermor's domkill is now 10x what it was. So they are no longer ridiculously wealthy in addition to their other strengths.

Dom3 progress page lists most changes, from most recent to old. The changes are dated, but unfortunately the page is unavailable for few days. Kristoffer posted that it will be back up in a few days, so I suggest bookmarking it and checking it in a while.

All changes won't make sense, because often they are just names of units being listed. "Oxhead and Horseface", "Hidden in Sand" etc.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, there are three new giant nations (Hinnom, Ashdod, Gath). Hinnom started off absurdly overpowered, probably still is one, and Ashdod isn't far behind. Besides great mages and units, they have new, great summons. They have unique summons other nations can't even wish for (for EA), and a new non-unique, wish-accessible angel immune to Soul Slay (it has four SC-quality forms), and undead SC chassis in mid-Conjuration (for MA) and other fun stuff. Search for Grigori, Chayot, or just read the HINNOM EATS EVERYTHING! guide. It's a great read.

I do believe LA Abysia's plethora of Assassins and addition of Death magic is also from a patch.

Why do you always call them Ryalla?
