With a difference...
I think they can enter a building without recking it or getting immobilized... or not? The key word is "think".

Also, big difference is in the mobility. IIRC all hooved units have the same move factor as infantry, so they are much better at dealing with slopes, rough and indeed buildings than regular trucks. Particularly the early road-only sort.
So if you're playing in the 50s on a horrible backwater map with cliffs and swamps and forest, and you have to choose between old trucks and older mules, think it over before dismissing the medieval solution.

Sometimes it is good to go medieval.

Italian Alpini delivering aid to a mountain village in A-stan with rented mules:

Indian Army mules in the mountainous country near the Chinese border:

Mule = four legged all-terrain vehicle.

The USMC used mules extensively during the "Banana Wars" in the 1930's.
And if I'm not mistaken they were used in Burma during WW II quite a bit.
I use them in game for moving mortars, hv MG's, and hv ATGM's in jungle/mountain terrain, very useful critters at times.
As redcoat2 said : Mule = four legged all-terrain vehicle !
