Hinnom Great Bow and Flaming Arrows
I'm playing my first game as Hinnom and have some Hinnom Avvite Heavy Archers and some generic archers. During a battle I have an air mage cast Wind Guide and a fire mage cast Flaming Arrows. The 'generic archers' arrows are 'flaming'. However, the arrows from the Great Bows are not flaming. (Or at least their graphic arrows arn't flaming.)
Is this just a visual 'bug' or arn't the Great Bow arrows flaming?

From what I've heard, normal unit bows are replaced by Flaming versions of those bows when the spell is cast.
Considering that Markata don't get a Flaming version of their "small bow", chances are good that there are no coded-in Flaming versions of the Great Bow.

Re: Hinnom Great Bow and Flaming Arrows
chances are good that there are no coded-in Flaming versions of the Great Bow Does this mean you can't "SEE" the flaming version or that Flaming Arrows doesn't have an effect on arrows from the Great Bow?

Re: Hinnom Great Bow and Flaming Arrows
Yes, no effect.
There are "Fire Crossbow", "Fire Boulder", "Fire Composite Bow", "Fire Bow of War" etc etc weapons for each weapon that is affected by Flaming Arrows. Edi's database lists these in the weapons section. You can report this as a bug in the bug thread, if it hasn't been put to the shortlist already. If you haven't reported bugs before, remember to mention the weapon ID number in the report (you can see it by pressing shift+i while viewing a unit that has Great Bow as a weapon).
If you have time, I'm sure Edi would be thankful if you went through and checked out which other ranged weapons are still missing flaming versions. It shouldn't be hard to do if you use the database.

Re: Hinnom Great Bow and Flaming Arrows
I think the more crucial problem is that fire arrows works by creating new versions of the weapons (I presume for graphical reasons) when it should probably just add the fire secondaryeffect to /all/ ranged weapons. That way new and modded ranged weapons would work with it.

Wouldn't work. It would be nice to be able to define how a ranged weapon is replaced when Flaming Arrows is cast, though.
Ranged weapons currently only have one ammo sprite. To change normal arrows into flaming arrows, the weapon has to change.
TIn addition, there are too many exceptions to make Flaming Arrows work with all ranged weapons. Just in vanilla:
Mind Burn.
Frost Breath (and all other Breaths)
Gaze of Death (and all other Gazes)
Fire Bola and other ranged weapons that already are on fire.
Thrown Sutra, the thrown piece of paper some Jomon or Tien Chi mages have that deals damage to undead.

Re: Hinnom Great Bow and Flaming Arrows
So all ranged weapons with a resource cost. Problem solved.
Re: graphics, I'm just accepting all 'flaming arrow' graphics would be lost.

"Ranged weapons currently only have one ammo sprite. To change normal arrows into flaming arrows, the weapon has to change."
I never thought about it, but the mechanics make sense.
One more item added to my list of "I never knew that".
