Pretender cost
HELP !!!
I'm trying to mod a new pretender for my Shangri La mod.
How may I calculate its cost ? I find it quite different from the others pretenders, so it's difficult to fix its cost by comparing it to the cost of existing pretenders.
If anyone have an answer, PLEASE help me !

Re: Pretender cost
What exactly do you want to know?
How to change pretender price in a mod or wether there are guidelines to how much points a pretender should cost with certain abilities?

Re: Pretender cost
The simpliest way is to copy the pretender stats and post them.
I guarantee no shortage of opinions.

There aren't any guidelines, and the balance of the existing pretenders isn't perfect either. It'd be difficult to extrapolate a working guideline from the existing pretender costs because most pretenders are rarely used in competitive games.
If there was a guideline, it'd have to be based on the roles the pretender can fill: early expander, supercombatant in middle/late game, blesser, rainbow, magic diversifier, path specialist etc.
Example: Cyclops and the male Titan are both titans, categorically, but the Cyclops is better blesser and early expander (higher starting magic and protection) while the male titan needs items before he can dominate a battlefield, but he can also cast Air Shield, Mirror Image, Mistform, Cloud Trapeze, forge Dwarven Hammers and magic boosters for Air and Earth, and later cast Rain of Stones and Fog Warriors.

Re: Pretender cost
It's not impossible - a year ago I did a statistical regression of all default pretenders, and the degree to which each attribute added to the cost. I developed a spreadsheet which allowed you to come to a consistent ballpark figure, it's in the "tools" thread somewhere, or the Forum history if you search for it. IF you can't find it after looking, DM me.
I use the spreadsheet for my own mods, which have lots of pretenders and which hold up pretty good for gameplay balance.
