Default Roter blades edit.

Hello to all.

Could some one please tell me how one goes about changing the roter blades on helicopter icons? Is it done in the master icon list or is a differant program such as shpedit needed?

Thanks.

Rotor icons, and all icons, must be edited using a graphics program of some sort, and then imported into .shp files using shpedit. The Master Icon List is a purely reference document.

However, are found in the shps in one of two formats. Either they are pointed to specifically in the file, or they are treated as "turrets" and follow the main helicopter icon as one would find with turreted AFVs. Tandem rotor helos are usually one icon, with no special icon for the rotors (as this would be impossible to make functional using the available format).

What is it you have in mind, of the following:
-1) changing the icon for a definite rotor type, or
-2) changing which rotor icon is used by a specific helicopter?

For 1), see explanation above, search this board for explanations on how to edit icons, some of which have been given again not long ago.

For 2), I think you are stuck, as in most cases this is hardcoded. A few helicopter icons use their own rotor, which is stored beside the fuselage icon just as for turreted AFVs, but most use a few hardcoded rotors which are stored in a separate file.
These you will find in MasterIconList as having a file image reference pair the likes of this one: {2458;679}. The second is the rotor (I don't remember the exact numbers), and this pairing is hardcoded somewhere we modders don't have access to.
The MasterIconList.txt is only a copy for reference, and editing it will change nothing at all.

Hope this helps.

Number two is correct. I see haw Icons 0071 and 0073 (I think) are helo but they have no roter in the icon files but they are harded coded(ie 840 is a four blade roter). i had a feeling I couldn't do. Thought I give it a try. i hope in the next release they add Pierri's AH-64 icons. There very nice.
