Dominions 3 version?

I installed patch 3.17, but the startup screen says 3.01.

Should it change to 3.17 if the patch is correctly installed, or does the startup screen not change with the patch?

We're talking about the lower-left hand corner of the main menu screen, right? It says 3.17 for me. I suspect the patch did not install correctly. One way to double-check is to try to start a new game in EA and see if Hinnom is an option. Hinnom was added in 3.17.

Even easier to check with the pretender creation tool to see if you can create a Hinnom pretender.

or ask it the version with the --version switch
dom3 --version
(which might only be easier if you do Linux)

Turned out that I had to re-install for the game to update.
