Sun Items
In an MP game I'm in I found a Sun Helmet, Sword, Shield and Armor on another player's calvary commander.
Besides wishing... how do you get these?

Re: Sun Items
There is a special province that has a hero who is wearing these items. Finding it is just really good luck.
There are several neat "set" random provinces that have unique artifacts(like the Robe of the Sorceress and the Hammer of the Cyclops), powerful commanders that can be captured (an A7 comes to mind), or other wierdness(a Golem with a pile of statues or the above mentioned A7 with phantasmsl warriors).

Re: Sun Items
To elaborate, in the beginning of a game there's the (quite low, I suspect) probability that instead of a 'normal' set of independent units tied to poptype, there's a very different, possibly quite nasty set of defenders. These tend to be associated with a unique un-forgeable item (or, in the case of Solaris, a set of those four items) or a unique magic site.
So if you are scouting and see something like, say, independent pretender-types defending a province, or a horde of Mechanical Men, and you're not using a .map file that placed them -- hmmmmm, interesting.
Note -- you won't get the loot if the commanders flee instead of being killed on the battlefield. Ditto if you don't have appropriate slots free. So, for the unforgeable items, if you lose 'em that way -- you can't get them in that game except by Wish.
Even if they don't show up in a game, you can still wish for the items. Wish won't let you place the magic sites, 'tho.

Re: Sun Items
In one of my SP games, after a battle with Abysia, one of my commanders scavenged some armor that the text description says used to belong to Bogus .

Re: Sun Items
I had the nearly the same... Bogus & friends decided to attack one of my province. Sadly for them, I had a significant portion of my forces there.
I think Dominions should have more random events bringing gifts like this !
And a lot of independant commanders seem to have a magic item or two, but they always flee for some reason (maybe their comrades being slaughtered).

Re: Sun Items
Yes, they belong to Solaris. Theres a halfling hero with some unique items too (dont remember his name), and a sorceress too

Re: Sun Items
I think the hoburg is called Oberfuhrer. He has a special weapon "Shortsword", which deals double or triple damage to creatures larger than the wielder.

Re: Sun Items
The actual items are pretty good - probably artifact level. Specially like the Awe armor and the nice MR helm!
Great equipment for Tartarians (High prot & enc) against other Tartarians (anti-undead).

Re: Sun Items
Hmm, has anyone tried Mind Enslaving these indie commanders and then giving them Gift of Reason? It would be handy if their magic abilities returned.
