Default [solved] Error with 3.10 in debian etch (libc)

Hi

I\\\'ve just updated Dom to 3.10 and I can\\\'t run it anymore. Trying to get it work via terminal, I get the following error:

/dom3_amd64: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4\\\' not found (required by ./dom3_amd64)

I checked my libc6 version and it\\\'s 2.3...whatever and lenny has 2.6...does it mean that I need to upgrade to lenny just to play the game? I\\\'m thinking of installing the -deb package from lenny in my etch box, but I prefer not to mix estable/testing packages.

Any other workaround? Thanks in advance...

GLIBC is graphics drivers, if i remember correctly. Try running in low resolution mode (dom3 -x, from console, I believe).

GNU C Library.

If you're paranoid about mixing packages, it might be possible to install the updated version elsewhere, outside of any directory ordinarily known to ld.so, but where you might be able to apply it only to dom3.

ex. by writing a shell script that sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include the path to that specific glibc version, then invokes Dominions. It won't work if the dominions binary needs to be suid, and I'm not entirely sure that it'll work for glibc (perhaps conflicts, if it depends on other libraries that end up drawing in other glibc versions?), but it may be worth a shot. One could be more specific and use LD_LIBRARY_PRELOAD instead to load that specific glibc -- LD_LIBRARY_PATH merely tells ld.so where to look first.

I don't have my own Linux box, so I can't check this myself.

Hi, gents!

More or less solved. I upgraded to lenny and it works now (x86 version, amd64 has some bizarre graphic glitches). I would prefer to stay with etch, but...

Duncan Ferguson discovers Bronze Working!
Bronze Working starts Bronze Age.
Bronze Age ends Stone Age.
End of Stone Age stops Ice Age. Freeze is no longer in effect.
Monotheism has become available.
