Rising Magic Resistance...

I have a couple of questions for the pros...

1. What commander has the highest "BASE" Magic Resistance"?

2. What items rise the Magic ReSistance?

3. What item grants the Greates Magic Resistance?

4. Best Way to have high MR? Higher than 30....

Starspawn have 20, which I think it the highest base MR. There may be others as well.

Non-unique items:
Lead shield - 4
Amulet of Antimagic - 4
Rainbow Armor - 3
Armor of Souls - 5
Starshine Skullcap - 2

Uniques:
Mage Bane - 5
Amon Hotep - 5
Aseftik's armor - 3
Robe of Calius the Druid - 3
The Jade Mask - 3
Dual-wielding the Axes of Rulership will give you 2

Thin that's all of em. There are also a few spells that will give you +4 in combat, but they don't stack AFAIK. Iron Will, Resist Magic, Army of Lead, and Antimagic will all work (earth and astral).

Also, a dominion of ten + prophet/pretender gets you a +5 MR. Useful to keep in mind, sometimes (astral nation mind hunting your super).

what do you mean with astral nation mind hunting your super?

Mind hunt is a ritual spell - very cheap at 2 astral pearls.
Requires soul slay or mind burn to also be researched. Can be resisted, but the enemy often has penetration boosters such as the eye of the void cutting into your protection. If you have a super combatant pretender and zero mr boosters, it can help to retreat to your highest dominion province, and include a few high MR mages/cheap indie priests to draw fire as well.

If your pretender has a high astral level then the shroud of the battle saint will also raise magic resistance.

Armor of Virtue and one of Solaris's items also provide a bless, which as you say, boosts MR with astral.

Requesting clarification on MR stacking: will at least one spell (iron will, resist magic, etc.) stack with a MR that has already been enhanced with one/more of the items mentioned above?

The spells do not stack with eachother (they are the same effect/mask).

Any one spell, and any or all of the items above, can all stack.

I'm not sure about the bless, actually - it can't raise your MR above 18 but is the bless figured in first or last?
