Casting \"quicken self\"
I set my sc (tarrasque w1s10) to cast quicken self.
But instead it castes astral shield at the start of the combat , can someone out the tell me why the dragon ignores its orders? I already figured out that every S mage capable of casting astral shield does so as soon as he can, but why is the priority fr this spell so high? I mean it does almost nothing for a caster who stands somewhere behind in a army and even though my sc draw some use of the shield i would more like it to cast quicken self..

Re: Casting \"quicken self\"
As far as I know there's no way to prevent casters from overriding your orders. In this case the best thing to do might be to actually script Astral Shield, followed by Quicken Self. Hopefully you don't have 4 other buffs you want to cast.

Re: Casting \"quicken self\"
thanks for the reply, but my concern was lesser to find a solution to that (hey i was really smart enough to figure one out myself;P), than to blame this astral shield spell. It seems that every S mage rivals which each other on who can set his shield up first... but then there is no other use for it. At this point im want to know if any of you had had a great use of this spell so far.

Re: Casting \"quicken self\"
That's really odd. I have lots of S1 Ktonian Necromancers, and they never override my orders to cast battle magic in favor of Astral Shield. Maybe it's something about the Tarrasque "knowing" it's a melee unit.

Re: Casting \"quicken self\"
I wonder if the prioritization algorithm includes path levels of the caster? After all a s10 w1 unit must know deep in his heart that he has a much stronger affinity for astral magic. Maybe he wouldn't override the order if he were s3w2?
BTW - How the heck does one get a s10 tarrasque?

Re: Casting \"quicken self\"
My pretender did something similar to me recently, paths were E2 S10, I teleported on top of a army consisting of mostly magical units and scripted Arcane Domination, Returning, equipped with 20S gems.
So what happened? He cast Astral shield, returning...doh.
Its all very, very annoying...especially as it makes absolutely no sense at all why it would happen.
My golems scripted to Astral Tempest, Body Etheral, Personal Luck, Resist Magic, Astral shield, cast spells always work 100%.
