This article is AWESOME! Besides being a kudo for the mod community, it has some really detailed information about how to make a mod.
Anybody that's new and is thinking of making a mod should definatly read this article.
Scroll down teh left side and look for "Space Empires IV - Modifying the universe in a day"

Wow! Great article! I wish I'd had some of that info when I started modding things -- would've made fewer mistakes =) Ah well. My mod even got mentioned, amazingly =)

Hot damned! My site is actually mentioned! Man that brings a smile to my face. Gotta love those guys at Computer Games Online.
Chris Traber did an excellent job writing that article. A most informative read. Too bad my site went down and my addressed changed. I wonder how I could go about letting him know? Any whoo, all the ship sets that I had at the UCP site are in the mod section here for download until I can get my FTP server thingy working at my new site. Again, a great atricle. Thanks for bring it to our attention.
Just made a new Favorites linking directly to www.CDmag.com
quote: Chris Traber would like to extend special thanks to Aaron Hall, Richard Arnesen, Mephisto and Daynarr for their technical assistance with this article, and to the rest of the Shrapnel Games discussion forum for their assistance over the past six months.
Way to go guys.

I'm famous!
Heh.
I haven't done anything on Derek's Mod (aka Davesmodsv11) in quite a long time, as life has interfered. Also, quite frankly, at this point, the DevNull Mod has incorporated and improved many of the things I did, and I really feel like anything I did would just be copying his.
It is nice to know, however, that I still get mentioned in the review on cdmag.

He knows Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. The article was written prior to the SE4 multiple download sections, so a lot of links had to be removed at the Last moment (I had originally included links to every mod). I also included about 2-3 more pics that did make it into the final edit by cdmag due to size restrictions. Oh well. The main thing I wanted was to provide a road map for mod makers/Users to understand file conflicts and the potential of custom mods. I am happy that all of the tables made it in and if people find it useful, that is reward enough.

Are you kidding, Dave? I haven't played with Devnullicus' mod yet, but the original ideas you playtested with and put forth are still in the game mod I regularly play with. Great stuff, and I'll have to check out Devnull's Version.
Looking forward to seeing anything else you might come up with once Real Life unasserts itself.
