Default Information screen (F1)

I'm bringing up something that I've previously posted in the dom-III wish list.

It's a request to enhance the information screen with two features. First, sorting (according to each of the listed fields), the second filtering.

Currently this screen is my main interface to running the empire, set taxes, locate armies and mages etc. and I find myself endlessly rummaging through the province list forever searching for something, be it that mage with two air, the provinces with high unrest, my scouts and so on and forth.

With sorting I could easily go to the most wealthy provinces, highest unrest and strongest armies.
With filtering I could generate sub lists of provinces that are relevant to specific management task.

I didn't see any mention of improvements to this screen, yet I think it can have a significant impact for reducing micro management.

I hope this will be added sometime.

I think like WraithLord. The Info Screen can be very useful but it is sometime painful to find a particular information.

I am with WraithLord. The information screen is a great tool for managing a large game with many provinces under your control. As it is in Dom2, it quickly reaches information overload and on my pc the only time I get serious lag is when scrolling through huge numbers of provinces in this screen. (I like big maps!)

I also like big maps, and I never got the chance to actually finish a game on one (w/o vps that is), at late stages the game becomes a management nightmare.

Now, what I'm suggesting isn't ground breaking, it's not a new feature, but imo it is relatively easy to implement and it is worth so much in terms of reducing micro management.

Something helpful, that I didn't ask for (because I assume it is harder to implement) is an in game "find" tool. I just wonder how much time I spent trying to find that mage with the specific artifact or specific paths (and I hate renaming mages according to their paths). For this I suggest a "find" dialog, specify what you want to find (commander, province, item), fill the conditions and walla you get it.

Let's face it, the game overflows with info, end game it can become an unruly beast to master. Currently, I'm using text files with hints and lists to manage my big games but it's tedious and really shouldn't be that way. (It reminds me of early age RPGs when you had to write everything down, compared with modern RPGs that come with a quest log, journal, maps and so forth.)

Again, I hope the devs will consider this.

Yes Dominions_3 will allow 1500 provinces!! I will probably start at 900 provinces and gradually work my way upwards. I'll probably set the game where each capital is a victory point and 80% are needed to win. (forgive my daydreaming)

All this sounds great (it really does), but with dom-II interface it's plain impossible to manage such maps, I can only hope the management aspect is significantly improved in dom-III.

As much as I would like to be optimistic I wouldnt bet on it. 900 provinces is too much for any possible game's management scheme, and Dom was never known as micromanagement paradise.

Crusader Kings does fine on a 1017 province map. :-) Almost all have multiple buildings and courtiers as well.
