I finally had a strategic combat where my unarmed ship survived!
My unarmed escort was attacked by a destroyer. My ship as faster than the destroyer and just ran in circles for 30 turns. This is the first time I have seen an unarmed ship not run to a corner and wait to die.

It would be nice to see this more often! My favorite tactic for survival in the beginning of games is when my colonizer is attacked (usually by an escort) I will use the colonizer as a battering ram in tactical combat. Usually destroys the attacking ship and the colony componant but I can always fly back for repairs, while he is destroyed.

I agree there should be a retreat feature. As of now the only way I can ever escape is if I'm faster.

In the early game colonizers can ram escorts and win (good defense for early game attacks if you ask me)
