Default T-55MV6 tank

I recently found this:

T-55MV6 Tank. Nice, isn't it?.

Photo and following text is taken from here

This modernised version has almost the same level of protection as the T-80U! It is equipped with "Kaktus-5" ERA and has a modified T-72B turret with 125mm gun 2A46M and automatic loader. There are two FCS options: 1A40-1 with ATGM system 9K120 "Svir" (as T-72B) or 1A42 with 9K119 "Refleks" (as T-80U). The suspension has 2x6 road-wheels now and the tank is powered by a 690 hp diesel engine V-46-5M. Crew: 3. Combat weight: 43 tonnes.

I wonder how much it costs to upgrade plain t-55 to this standart... It would be a nice addition to all these thirld world countries military.

it may well appear, if someone buys it and it is no longer a paper project. (But then again - if it is basically a T-72, why not buy a T-72 ??

Cheers
Andy

I don't think ERA "kaktus-5" really exists.

I didn't write that text, just pasted it from jed's. Anyway, i think that guy writing this mixed "kontakt-5" with "kaktus" ERAs.

Huh, lessee, new gun, new AAMG, new FCS, new turret body with neck autoloader, new suspension, new motor, addon armor (not "new", the T55 hadn't any)...

How about 20 times the cost of the original T55?

IIRC Poland offered some (good as new) to Vietnam in the early 90s for about $50,000 each...

But what's left of the original tank anyway?

As Andy said, better buy a whole T-72S or T-90, sames time and work...
