Default Map Element: Lowlands, Saigon area

A small hamlet and a lot of rice paddies in almost totally flat terrain, based on US 1:50,000 map of Saigon area.

Btw going to be offline for a while (exactly I'm going to a summer camp and I'm going to spend 18 days without the net. Oh the horror ), but then I'm ready to receive any comments

It looks very good!

Anyway here two observations from me..

1)What about finding different type of houses than the present one?

2)The secondary road-footpath(earth) combination is too regular

Good vacation!

Thank for the advices!

Do you mean they're too straight or that the terrain tiles are too boring? This is my problem, I am too liking patterns

@the building issue, I am aware of it, I was adding them there in quite a hurry and didn't get to redo them.

I also have to ask for the opinion on height level treatment (ie basic level 0 and all terrain waves made by * key), I wasn't able to find a single contour line in the area, so I have decided to build the main road at a level of 4 (ie blocking LOS, simulating raised road - the map didn't indicate it but in a wet country I'd go for this solution if I didn't want the road to be washed away by first floods) and so on, highest point on the map being level 5, so no visible slopes etc... I'd like to know POV also on this.

Other than that, this is really the last message for next 17 days. Have a good time.

I wish you good vacations!

Same comments as Davide,

1. The dirt road - clear hex pattern maybe needs re-work.
2. The stone bridge is somehow out of order; because of the paved road...
3. The house of the village should be appropriate for the circumstances (more hut type)
4. Maybe you should reconsider the village construction/structure and you may also add some green crop fields next to it(?)
5. Nice use of land for separation of rice paddies fields
6. Maybe you should add/put some hexes between the stream and the rice paddies to the center.
7. Maybe you should reconsider the small rice paddies next to the village
8. Overall impression: Nice map

cheers,
Pyros

Gotta have a bit more time (granted now I think) to play with it, and gotta get rid of my love for stereotypes

I am often using this combination on my maps as I think the small road bridges, if they are wooden, are way too cheap target in SP, as they are often relatively small (depends of course on the type of stream, terrain etc...) and OTOH they have stable construction which allows them to sustain heavy traffic. And Wooden Bridges are way too fragile IMO.

Yes, thx.

I'd have done this on larger map, here I wanted everything to fit in the small frame so I was reducing sizes a bit, reducing in...

these little paddies
OK, thanks very much for recommendations, gotta use them in next maps.
