Default Server question

Hi!

Before I spend a few hours building a server, hoping someone knows this answer... Can I run a Dom standalone server, and my own PC with the same serial number? The server would run all the time, serving a Dom game, and I would connect up to it from my PC (using the same serial as the server), along with other players.

Also might as well ask if there are any issues with running a linux Dom server, and connecting with a windows machine. Or is it better to run windows <---> windows?

Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Server question

The situation of running a server on a windows machine and then connecting to that server from that same machine is fine. I've done that several times.

I know that you can run the server on linux and then connect to it via a windows machine using the same serial.

I believe that the serial-protection only kicks in if you are trying to have two clients with the same serial number connect simultaneous from different IPs.
