Default Funny Behaviour

Greetings,

I am playing against the computer with the AI at the highest level of difficulties.
I am using the weaponry based on the organic technology and it is at level 5.

One of the computer is massing in front of my frontier fleet ships. Each turn, about 10-15 ships are coming (size battleship, cruisers and dreadnought) and mass in front of my fleet. There are now over than 150 ships.

I tried a few times to kill them and my (now huge counter-fleet) fleet of dreadnought, baseships is getting killed even if I outnumber by tonnage and technology level the enemy.

My ships are equipped with heavy mount seeking spores, 10 organic armors and level 5 ECM and targetting comps (can't recall the exact name). The enemy ships are equipped with 500 points shields, heavy mount photon torpedoes and heavy mount direct hit weapons.

Even if I am at 1 square, my weapons do no effect on the shields or the armor. I even equipped some ships with shield skipping weapons and the damages are very limited.

The only strategy I found out to take it out, is to use warheads and ram the enemy ships.

Anyone has any idea what is going wrong? If you need a more precise description, I can write back in 10 hours and put the exact configurations.

Thank you

The only way I found out how to beat them

Perhaps they have shield rechargers?

Greetings,

When I fire in tactical, I don't see the blue line representing the shield line decreasing at all.

I'll attach the saved game in 9 hours about.

Thank you

Oh, the shield line only represents so much. You'll see it if their shields get down to low, low levels.

Greetings,

I badly wrote what I wanted to say. When you right cick on the enemy ship, you see the value of the shield X/Y (i.e:1000/1000 when not damaged), and it does not go down either. It is like the ship is not beeing hit at all.

Thank you

Possible. The enemy design COULD use all kind of defense+ components, like ECM, stealth and scatter armor and in addition have a good training and maybe even a big racial modifier. In that case it gets very hard to hit ships, unlike you are using seeking weapons. If the enemy shields dont go down at all, they you are simply not doing any damage, which can just have one reason, that your weapons dont hit. Train your ships, both ship and fleet training COULD give you a +40% to hit.
Strangly you said you are using organic seekers, which cant be evaded, only shot down, which can be done easily. Switch to the biggest mount of eletric discharge beam, that should work. Or use phased polaron beams which skip shields, but only if the enemy dont have phased shields.

Maybe he is just plain out-shooting you. Find out if you have equal or better combat sensors / ECM compared to the enemy, and what his racial offensive and defensive modifiers are.

I'd hazard a guess that he has advantages on you in both areas. You can also look to see if he has any armor that gives him defensive benefits, with both at level 3 his ships will have an additional 30% defensive modifier.

If you were playing against a human opponent I'd also suggest looking at his fleet and crew training levels, but you could not do that unless you captured his ship (for ship training).

^^ what i said But as mentioned, he said he is using organic seekers, with which evasion doesnt matter at all. I would like to know which mod he is using, since the AI appears to act like TDM, but on the other hand im sure TDM doesnt offer lvl 5 ECM tech.
