Please help me in setting up Ryleh

Soon I will be joining a 7 player PBEM game using the map "World". I would like to play Ryleh, but I still suck at setting up the Scales/Dominion/Pretender/etc.
Please list your recommendations and the reasons for them.

Also any "battle tricks" or hints with this race would be great.

Consider whether you'll be making use of the Illithid Soldiers or Meteorite Guard. If not, you can probably tolerate a heavy Sloth scale, as regular Illithids will eat your treasury (and food...) far faster than resources. You may also want to consider extreme cold, since temperature scales impose no penalty underwater.



You may want to consider the "make your Void Lurker into a mobile Wight Mage" trick, but it would not be entirely unreasonable IMHO to consider it as going against the spirit of the rules, if not the letter; also, being undead has its own liabilities. You may also want to ask your group their opinion of the infamous astral clams.



Don't forget that Star Children aren't only assassins, but they're astral-1; enough for communion.



If you won't be able to build one yourself, consider bartering for a Staff of Storms, as it does not affect mindbLasts...

Also consider if you are going to use the Void Gate. If yes, a way to heal all those feebleminded priests would be nice, and Gift of Reason would suit Vastness very well...
Also, is Atlantis in play, and do you have to prepare for an early war?

Remember that Dispel cannot be cast under water!

for a long run game i think a poor rainbowarchmage pretender is not bad for ryhleh too . if you give him 6 astral you can get to wish without empowering only via ring of sorcery , wizardy and the astral+1 helmet .
