Scenario Editor, where is it?
What's the deal with the Scenario Editor we were promised? Is it still "pending" ?
Anybody figured out how to make scenarios without it?

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
It's not so difficult to make a scenario, as a matter of fact all the time you play a new game you make a new scenario. What you mean, I believe, is a group of playable scenario's like in games as Simcity. I know Aaron is thinking about this. But I don't think it's so important to have this feature implemented. Aaron and Modders are more interested in improving AI and other features to get us players even more challenged by this outstanding game.

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
my guess on a "scenario" is to go head and setup a game to include type/size quadrant, races involved (no random ones) and what kind of victory conditions), do turn one and save game. Then maybe place in scenario/mod forum. *shrug*....no biggy seems to me.
now if you are talking about actually naming the systems and the details of numbers of nebulas, planets and planet types, etc...would be nice but not something I want to fool with myself, at the moment... but my guess there maybe some (yourself) who may want to do this..

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
Depending on how things go, we should have a Map Editor, and maybe a scenario editor. I hope.

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
A scenario editor would include details like ship designs for both sides, number of ships, size of fleet, planets with locations, locations of warp gates, tech levels, etc.. all so that you could set up an actual scenario or campaign along the lines of Starfire (the board game) or various sci-fi novels, including Dave Weber's books, and other space battle stuff.

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
Guys, go back and check the old press releases. A Scenario Editor was *specifically* promised to us.

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
Here is a direct quote from Aaron's press release of 9/22/00
"Some of you have asked about Map Editors and Scenarios editors. They don't exist yet, but they will. Probably not in time for the full release, but they will be made available soon after the release for free to all owners of SE4."
nmoppa and Pathy, you both sounded like you thought I was imagining things
Not that I'm unhappy with Aaron or Shrapnel, I just thought it was reasonable to ask a polite question, given that, (as you can see from the quote above), we were told it would be along "soon after the release".

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
Heh, "soon" is a term that means different things to different people. To my boss, it means sometime in the next 10 minutes. To a geologist, it means sometime in the next million years

Re: Scenario Editor, where is it?
Possum,
Editors are way down the list. We need to get game working properly first.
