Is Illwinter (ritual) good for Jotunheim?
They're certainly the nation that can cast it easiest with blood/water starting mages, but will it actually have a positive or simply a less negative effect than everyone else in the game?
Consider the following scenario:
I'm playing as Jotun-niefelheim, with a natural dominion of cold+3. I currently have almost the highest income, so an income reducing ritual would affect me more than most....
Illwinter makes everything colder (good), also reduces the income worldwide (is that because of the extra cold, or is it extra?), and it also increases unrest (surely that can't be good for my expensive niefel giants, and even more expensive blood hunters.
Thanks

Re: Is Illwinter (ritual) good for Jotunheim?
Am not sure if this is correct but the advantage would appear to be in making the provinces where you have no dominion become colder. As the Illwinter effect works on the whole map, the efficiency of Abysian troops fighting anywhere, for example, will be seriously reduced.
Hope this helps.

Re: Is Illwinter (ritual) good for Jotunheim?
Not quite sure myself, my when I tried Jotun on Kingdom of Karan Last game, I casted Illwinter. IIRC, I don't recall any significant income drop, nor unrest problems.
So I think the income drop is referring to cold scale, which is actually good for Jotun since they prefer cold. As for unrest, I am unaware if temperature scale affects unrest or not, but I didn't any significant unrest problems after casting.
Just based on my limited experience.

Re: Is Illwinter (ritual) good for Jotunheim?
I played a Neifelheim (sp?) game a few weeks back. Since illwinter is pre-researched, I gathered up bloodslaves as fast as I could, and cast it.
Income did not drop, no unrest badness. Just blessed snow and cold.

Re: Is Illwinter (ritual) good for Jotunheim?
Shouldn't Illwinter work better with Caelum than Jotunheim?
Normal Jotuns suffer in 3 cold scales even if Niefel ones don't, right?
Edit: Nevermind, Niefelheim starts in 3 cold

In fact, ALL Jotun themes, including Niefelheim, prefer Cold+2! The fact that Niefelheim requires Cold+3 is a minor disadvatange for them, but on the other hand you have no reason to NOT cast the Illwinter...
