Default An Abysian AAR, Part Deux

Still figuring out this damn game. This is my second attempt with Abysia. Lost the game, but oh well. Sorry for all the writing... I just got carried away and cut and pasted all this from word.

An Abysian Journey Part Deux

Second real game of this most complex and irritatingly addictive game. Doing these AAR (sort of) reports helps me think my way through to absolute and utter defeat, so what the hell? Might as well give some people something to laugh at (namely, my invincible mad utterly non-existent skillz).

The Setup
I played Abysia before. Might as well play them again. Maybe Ill learn something eventually. Ill create a new God. Ill pick a scenario. Ill get thrashed and kill millions of my fellow Abysians on my quest to irritate other computer-controlled nations that will kick my arse.

The God and His Hot Dominion
Im picking the Lord of the Desert Sun because I want to make things hot for the rest of the world so I can be as irritating as possible before they crush me with some moron Illithid Lord. I want an ***-kicking fire mage Desert Sun Lord guy so I load him up on the fire magic (7) and ignore the nature magic (2). Im going to do the Desert Sun dominion option thing. +3 Heat, +3 Productivity, +1 Luck. Dominion is pretty high (7) because I want the heat to spread. I guess. And Ill use castles for my castles (mostly because I have 87 points left over and castles cost 80). My God is Fred, Feeder on Impurity (?), King of Kings, the Burning Soul, the Unforgiving Lord. Hes a real bastard.

The Game
Im going to be Abysia. I randomly click around for a bit and have the following opponents: Pythium, Man, Ctis, Arco, Caelum, Pangaea, Vanheim, Jotunheim, and Mictian. I think Vanheim has giants. Pangaea is a bunch of sex-crazed satyrs and centaurs. I dont know the rest real well. I pick Re-emergence of Urgaia for my scenario because I dont know why. It looks uncomplicated. I leave all the other settings alone except I let it allow me to rename commanders by pressing r. Exciting. The game name is Frying Pan. Okay, its not allowed to be that. Its FryingPan. Aw, hell. Its F. Thats not even allowed. What the hell. C:\fryingpan. Nope. I name it ted. That works.

Turn One
A wheel turned and I have re-emerged from someplace. All hail! The map looks like like nothing Ive ever seen. Theres a huge bay on the south side of our continent and Im to the northwest of it. In a little place I like to call Abysia. Its warm here, yet there are no tourism options at all.
I have a Slayer named Vaphoron. I send him south to inspect some fertile farmland.
I have a Warlord named Valefor. He needs more army. I check out the recruiting screen and I have a lot of crap on here. This beats the snot out of blood of humans! I pick up four spear humanbred and fixe axe humanbred. That uses all my resources (104). I change my mind. I want some butt-kicking Abysians, not a bunch of human fodder. Boy. These guys are expensive. I can have a herd of ten humans or like four Abysians. I decide to waste all my money on Salamanders and hire eight human axemen and four salamanders. Valefor will sit around and wait for these hires.
Fred does research. Were going down Evocation all the way.
I need to hire more researchers when I have more money. I dont know what my other priorities are.

Turn Two
Proclamations! Some new prophets out there! Hooray! Or crap. I dont know.
I dont notice anything new on the map.
Vaphoron notices the land to the south has 50 units in it (hvy inf/militia/archers). Crap. I send him west. The idea is to make a circle around Abysia so I know where to go invade first. Definitely not south. Okay, I notice I can now see the armies all around Abysia, probably because my sun god is so tall (???). So I send Vaphoron further south to explore around the bay. I notice a black candle down there.
Valefor gets the eight axemen. He cant get the Salamanders no matter how hard I click. I guess I need a beast trainer(?). I recruit two more axemen for Valefor.
I recruit a new beast trainer and an Abysian with an axe to use up the excess resources. Im broke.
Looks like the independent armies are weaker to the north along the river. Ill go that way once I get my army going. I need money.

Turn Three
Research complete. Pangaea has a prophet on a horse.
Theres a light blue flag to the south. I wonder who that is. Theres more black candles to the north along the edge of the bay.
Vaphoron is sent to check out the southern mystery guest.
Forfax is my new beast trainer. He gets the four salamanders and is now part of Valefors army.
Valefor gets the two human axemen and the Abysian axeman.
I recruit more Abysian axemen than I can afford and send Valefor and Forfax off to kill to the north. I have the following in the army: 4 salamanders, 6 big battleaxes, 6 big flails, 10 little axemen (little=human), and 1 big axe (with the human squad). I split the little axemen into two squads and just put everyone as far to the front as possible. The salamanders are way to the top and set to attack rear units. Everyone else just attacks closest. The commanders are left to their own design.
Off we go to start the firey invasion

Turn Four
A group of zealots joined my army! The dummies. They are 23 flagellants. That explains it. There was a battle where I kicked their *** all over the place and lost nobody in the Kingdom of Dharma where I sent my army. I like to watch and watch my piddly human axemen do all the work and just chop em up. Good job, humans.
Flags everywhere now. Light blue flags to the north. Green flags north of the bay. That bright whitish-blue flag to the south. I suspect the light blue is Arco (from my previous game) and the green flag is Pangaea?
I send Vaphoron to the south to inspect the white-blue flag. I wonder who that is.
Hrm. I have a pile of flagellants at home, along with some big axemen (3). What to do with my army of guys? Keep expanding or defend? I decide to send them directly west into Arco territory, so off goes Valefor and Forfax.
I recruit more big axemen. I like big axemen. Dunno why. Im saving up for a warlock.

Turn Four. I mean Five.
Great. Rlyeh has a prophet too. I want a prophet. I took Lettia away from the Arcos with no resistance.
Theres a weird blood-red flag to the south with a sword stuck in it. I wonder what that is. The white-blue guys are Caelians.
I send Vaphoron down to investigage the blood-red flag.
Pangaea now butts up against Abysia itself on the east, which sucks cause I wanted to go invade Arco. I send my armies to Abysia hoping next turn to chase off Pangaea after picking up some recruits.
I decide to scrap the Warlock plan. They dont have any fire magic. Can you believe that? I recruit some more big axemen and an Anathemant Salamander. That drains my resources and gold entirely.
Next turn Valefor gets a Salamander and a few new axemen and heads to deforst Pangaea.

Turn Six
Arco made a Strategos (?) into a prophet. Good for them.
I still dont know what the blood-red flag is. It has Hirdmen (Jotunheim?). I send Vaphoron west to further explore the blood-red area.
Agrat, my new Salamander, joins Valefors gang. So do a bunch of bloodthirsty axemen. They go into Pangaea. I reorganize the army so the humans are far away from the Salamanders. The axemen are right in the middle and have high protection (18) and are set to attack first
Okay. Looks like my desert sun god is never going to move because I cant afford any more researchers. When do I stop researching with him and start kicking ***?

Turn Seven
More research complete in Evocation. Yay. Ctis has a prophet with a name that looks really really hard to pronounce. I guess it wasnt Pangaea but Mictian that I beat up. I lost two Salamanders but everyone else made it. Agrat banished a demon the other guy summoned and threw fire darts all over the damn place without hitting anything. Nothing like a wild fire dart-hucking demon banisher to throw the fear of Fred into the enemy. My Salamanders got fried by sparkly light columns and ran away.
I see the Mictian capital. It has approximately five billion jaguar warriors defending it (actually 110 warriors). I have no idea if I can kill them with my 36 dudes. Ill lay off for a bit and just thump his armies as he spits them out and try to hold my land. Ill thump on Arco, too, if he sends armies my way.
The blood red guys are Vanheim. Whatever that means. I think I see Pangaea way to the SW and am sending Vapharon to check it out.
Im having my army sit while Agrat searches for magic. I hope Mictian lays off for a few minutes.
Hiring a herd of big axemen and another Salamander to start a new army.
This is going to be a tight, fast game, I think. Everyone is near each other Thats what I get for putting 10 nations on a six nation map.

Turn Eight
Agrat found no magic. Arco took over Lettia (took it back). Mictian took the Kingdom of Dharma back.
Theres another green dude to the west. Basically, I have the Red Abysians in the middle, the blue Arcos to the NW, the green Mictians to the NE, the Caelians to the south, Vanheim to the south and a bit east, and Pangaea (?) to the far southwest. Theres some other green mystery dude to my west. Im sending Vaphoron to check it out.
Im sending Valefors army to beat the heck out of the Mictians in the Kingdom of Dharma. Wait. He only has 10 militia defending Mictian, so Im sending my army there instead. Muahaha! Maybe.
Hired a new Warlord and some more axemen. I love axemen. Grogol (new Salamander) will be part of his army.

Turn Nine
Woo! I took over the Mictian capital and am banging down the gates. All hail Fred! Baal, some Warlock, appeared at my gates and wants to work for me. Good.
Ill prophetize Baal this turn. Hes a level 4 priest. Ill have him work with my new warlock.
Grogol is moving to the research division.
Barbiel is my new warlock. Hell be with Baal and has eight axemen so far (but more are being recruited.
My armies with Vaphoron will sit on the Mictian capital.
Im hiring a couple more axemen and ten Morningstars (will take awhile).
Ill build up a second army slowly in Abysia while the first tries to conquer Mictian.

Turn Ten
I got to proclaim a prophet! That took forever. Resources increased in a forest between Abysia and Mictian. Im still bashing down their damn gate.
I put more units in Barbiels army. Its sitting around in Abysia, building up.
The Mictian army (how Im starting to think of it) will just keep pounding the gates.
Recruiting ever more axemen.

Turn Eleven
Aw, crap. The Mictians beat me away from their stupid capital. I lost a Salamander and eleven other dudes. I thought my mighty heat stroke Abysians would tear through the Mictians like paper, but they turned into stupid Jaguars and hacked me up a little. After their Jaguars ran away they fire approximately three hundred billion trillion slingshots at me and I ran away. Stupid Mictians. I wish I had slings.
Theres a black flag over just past the Mictians. Looks like Ryleh. Pangaea is spread all over the damn place and taking over about a quarter of my side of the bay. Selfish bastards. Vaphoron heads north to investigate the mystery green guys.
My Mictian army under Valefor has 1 Salamander, 2 big axes, 9 little axes, 6 big flails, and 6 big battleaxes left. The Mictians have 30 warriors and sun warriors left. I send my army to take back the Kingdom of Dharma. My plan is working perfectly! I wish.
My other army is building up. I set the prophet to help research for awhile. I recruit some salamanders, morningstars, and a lava warrior. I think I could smoke Mictian, but I dare not leave my capital with both armies just yet.

Time for bed. More in the morning.

Turn Twelve
More research completed. Man has a prophet, too. The Mictians took over Two Woods. I lost a human axe in my battle for the Kingdom of Dhara, but I won. Agrat is casting a bunch of mean looking fireballs now. Yay! Research pays off finally. I learn that pressing Q gets out of a battle replay.
Rlyeh seems to have a largish army in the bay just off my border. I dislike that.
In organizing my little army at Abysia, I find that Salamanders can be controlled by Salamanders and Baal. Barbiel gets more units he controls 14 big axes, 6 big flails, and a lava warrior. Baal controls four Salamanders of his own. Barbiel heads into Two Woods to whup on the Mictians. He takes my prophet Baal with him.
Valefor moves to the same area, with Agrat. Beast trainers seem pretty useless, but I send Forfax into the fray as well.
Im trying to knock Mictian out of the war right now. It makes a good choke point to my northeast border.
I start recruiting some battleaxes to replenish the armies after Mictian is beaten. I hope.

Turn Thirteen
The Mictians ran away and I faced no resistance in Two Woods.
The Rylehs moved away from my ocean border. I hate that I cant bottleneck those dudes.
The armies are all heading to Mictian now. All Hail Fred.
Im recruiting more battleaxes until I have a set of ten.

Turn Fourteen
I conquered Mictian and started bashing the gate because the losers ran away and took the Kingdom of Dharma away. Again.
I remembered I have a slayer out there running around. I start bringing him back towards Mictian to help out.
I recruit ten human spearmen and a human axeman. Even though they are total wussies.

Turn Fifteen
Mictian attacked me! I smoked them! They are so dead. I only lost two regular units. I breached the entrance and can storm the fort whenever I like. This turn sounds good to me. Im sending everyone there to storm the castle.
Theres some new purple dudes to the northwest. Wonder who they are.
I tell Fred to cast Fires From Afar at the Mictian castle to help out.
I load up on the human axemen in recruiting. Running low on resources.

Turn Sixteen
This is bogus! My fires from afar hit the target but I dont know what happened because the Mictians beat me off! I had 5 commanders, 41 regular units, and 5 salamanders. He beat me with 4 commanders and 3 regular units. And 3 of his commanders and 3 of his regular units died! So he had 1 commander left and thats it! BAH! His prophet got whacked and his ghost king lost an eye and has a chest wound. And hes down to 12 hp from 60 hp. Im heading right back to Mictian. Haha!
I recruit some more infantry. Heavy flails and whatever.
I had Pangaea and Man confused. Who cares? Time to beat up on Mictian.

Turn Seventeen
Pythium has a prophet. Some gems were found in some woods.
Oh crap! I screwed up and sent five commanders to Mictian and forgot the army! I guess they disengage if I get routed and I have to reorganize! Oh crap! No enemy here, thank Fred.
Chuzrael the Slayer is a big horny winged bastard and appeared and my gates. Yay! Ill send him to Mictian to slay that damn ghost king.
Oh crap! Crap! Arco just appeared on my northern border with 150 units! That makes a huge rectangle! Crap! I need my army back in Abysia right now. Crap! Their stupid rectangle fills up the whole province! Crap! Crap! This is crap! Where the hell did they come from? I guess I should give scouting a try next game. Crap!
Moving all my commanders back to Two Woods so they can pick up the army and give them a ride to Abysa after Arco turns me into Swiss cheese. Crap.

Turn Eighteen
Im really reluctant to hit Host. I wince before I read the Messages.
Arco declared war on me. Big surprise. I researched another level of Evocation. Some nature gems were found in Abysia. And and Im okay! Arco went away! Hooray! Back to Mictian, I guess!
I reorganize the armies in Two Woods and send everyone back to Mictian. They got gold in them thar hills. I want it. I guess.
I recruit some more morningstars. They arent flails like I said Last turn.
Whew!

Turn Nineteen
A global enchantment (Eyes of God) was caused by Cashal, the Dire Creator of Gas and Stuff. A hurricane smacked into Abysia. Getting ready to storm the fort in Mcitian. Again, no resistance.
I send the army in to smash that stupid Ghost. I guess Ill try to have Chuzrael assassinate him first.
He cant. I send him off to hunt Arco heroes.
The Arcos have one huge army running around, lead by Thymbre the Titan. Im tracking him by his smell. I send Chuz to nail him and have Vaphoron scout around, trying to guess where hes heading.
I recruit a few lava warriors. I need more leaders I decide to move one of my warlords back to Abysia after transferring his armies to the other warlord for recruiting. Valefor maintains the siege he has more experience. Barbiel returns. Everyone else storms the damn castle.

Turn Twenty
The tax collection in Mictian went well. I got another hundred gold. Hehe. I also captured the damn fortress in Mictian! Hooray for Fred! I killed their cheesy God, too, and I didnt lose a single Abysian. They declared eternal war on me. Stupid bastards.
The Mictians seem to have a single province (Kingdom of Dharma) with about 80 warriors in it. That huge Arco army is back Barbiel goes to Abysia to command the troops. I send my other army into Kingdom of Dharma to eradicate the Mictians.
Oooh, tingles. This is getting fun.
I recruit more lava warriors. Good gold wasters, those guys.

Turn Twenty-One
Crap. Crap crap crap. The Arcos whipped me. Most of my army was apparently sleeping, but the few I had whipped a bunch of Arcos. I learn elephants are really obnoxious noisemakers. Most of their army retreated. Those elephants trampled me to death, though.
I reorganize the army under Barbiel and have Grogol stop researching. Along with Fred they are off to trample the elephants back and break the siege. Bastard elephants. Bastard Arcos.
I sent my other army under Valefor to trample more Mictians. I leave my beast trainer with a few units and some salamanders to defend the place.
No gold, so no recruiting this turn.

Turn Twenty-Two
Wow. My 3 commanders and 65 units killed 7 of his 8 commanders and 64 of his 118 units! Impressed me. Fred cast about a billion fire clouds. Go Fred! I killed Arcos God. Call me Mr. Deicide. Arco is really pissed off. I wiped out the Kingdom of Dhara Mictians. Things look good for me.
I notice Mictian has 70 more warriors to the north. Crap. They have 10 warriors to the south. I hate splitting up the army.
Fred casts Fires from Afar on the Arcos who still have a decent camp just north of Abysia. Grogol gets back to research. I send Barbiel with a small army to wipe out the southern Mictians. Fred gets the bulk of the army to defend Abysia with.
My other army heads north to tromp Mictians. It looks like Arco is sending a small army that way as well

Turn Twenty-Three
Fred nailed them with his Holy Fire From Afar. Go Fred. I lost some money in taxes in Mictian to locusts who apparently eat gold. I beat the Mictians in the south and in the north with minimal losses, and Kurgal the Ghost King was vanquished forever. Loser that he is. The Arcos took over the Kingdom of Dharma. Ill take it back next turn.
I send Barbiel back to Abysia to gather troops. My northern army heads due west, into Arcos capital. Maybe I can beat them its only lightly defended.
Fred casts Fires on some Arcos to the west.
Valophor is my eyes in Arcos capital. Chuzrael is out hunting commanders and having a hard time.
I hire some axes in Abysia.

Turn Twenty-Four
Huh. Fred did his fire thing, and they somehow conquered my undefended province of Abysia. I guess cause my commanders were casting spells and doing research. I took over Arco without a fight and started to breach the walls.
I send everyone in Abysia out to break the siege with Barbiels help. I dont see any Arcos near Arcos capital, so I should capture that shortly. I hope. This is fun.
I recruit some morningstars in Abysia and some dudes in Mictian.

Turn Twenty-Five
Pangaea and Vanheim make some prophets. Big whoop. Some winds got turned into diamonds for me in the Two Woods. I annihilated the Arcos that were besieging me. Yeah! Killed 25 troops and 2 commanders and lost five units.
I dont see any Arco units on the map except a few in the castle in Arco. Hrm.
I breached Arcos capital. Time to storm.
I transfer all units to Barbiel and have the other two do research in Abysia.
In Arco I have everyone storm the castle. Ill stomp out Arco soon. Maybe. My dudes are tough.
Wow. I reorganize the army in Mictian and Forfax is like a God. He was a lonely beast trainer, but now he has the Awesome Presence ability and has leadership of 134 (!!!) and Awe (+4). Hes cool. I recruit some units for his army since the black flags are creeping up on that side of the map.

Turn Twenty-Six
Okay. This is retarded. It said my undefended province of Abysia was taken by the enemy and its not undefended! I had Barbiel set to defend the province! What am I doing wrong? I took over Arco. Was not a problem and lost no troops. Someone vanquished Stine, God of Caelum. Poor bastard.
I tell everyone in Abysia to break the siege. Again. This is getting old.
Arco province seems to be surrounded by single light cavalries. I split my forces and move out to conquer Arco lands in three directions.
I recruit more for Forfax, my mighty Beast Trainer.
I recruit a couple of big axes to defend Arco Province.

Turn Twenty-Seven
Found some gems in Arco. Yay. A hurricane hit the Two Woods. Dang.
I mashed the Arcos in Abysia with no losses. I set Fred and Grogol back to research and have Barbiel start patrolling. Maybe thats the trick.
I got beat in The Greater Wild by one single stupid cavalry unit. ARGH!
I got beat in The Saran Forest by the same thing! Why??
I won in Lombaria. Stupid Arcos and their stupid cavalry.
Rago the Rage Lord appeared in Abysia and wants to fight for me. Great!
Jotunheim and Ctis are to the east, but Ryleh seems to dominate the continent. I hate Ryleh already.
I send Rago off to the west by himself to beat on a lone mounted commander there.
Barbiel keeps patrolling while Fred and Grogol research.
I team up Agrat and Valefor in the north on a single province hoping to whack the cavalry there. Baal holds down the western front of Arcoland. I set him to preach a bit.
Vaphoron heads west to check out Pangaea.
Chazrael cant find a commander to kill. I send him to Mans territory.
I recruit some guys in Abysia to sort of round out the army.

Turn Twenty-Eight
In Arco some guy named Bogus freed some blood slaves which I didnt even know I had.
Rago beat snot out of 12 archers, 4 cardaces (dudes with spears), 4 slingers, and a hoplite commander. By himself! I like that guy. Hes nuts. He was about half-dead when he won. I send him back to Abysia so I can give him a little bit of an army to help spread the pain.
Agrat and Valefor took the province I wanted. I send them to another one. Theres more Arcos about Not sure about this. They are spread out everyplace, guerilla-style.
I send Baal back to preach at the castle in Arco Province. Safer there. I recruit some morningstars for him.
Forfax just commands the entire eastern front from his nice comfy castle. I recruit him some battleaxes.
Barbiel patrols and kills some troublemakers. More troops being recruited. Ill have to give a chunk of his army to Rago next turn and send Rago north to help mop up Arco.
I basically have three centers of power now. The Abysia Province, where Im defending from Southern encroachment and trying to send patrols to the north to wipe out the Arcos. I have the Mictian Province, where Awe-Inspiring Forfax acts as a chokepoint against the East. I also have the Arco Province, where Baal preaches the one true way and send most of his army south to beat up the rest of the Arcos. Once I wipe out the Arcos Ill figure out whos next.

Turn Twenty-Nine
I wiped out an attacking force from Arco in Abysia with minimal losses (2 lost, killed 16 and a commander).
I conquered the Saran forest with Agrat and Valefor. I send them south to wipe out a weak-looking province. Arco has a big build-up right in the middle of my empire and its irritating.
I give Rago twenty big units and send him north to help Agrat and Valefor (in case that big Arco army marches).
Barbiel stays on patrol to guard my researchers. I recruit him some replacements.
Chuzrael is in a fort province in Mans dominion. I tell him to attack since the fort is defended by a single Monk and Chuzrael can fly away if he has to.
Vaphoron found Pythium far to the west.
This continent is basically split by a large bay that opens to the south. Im on the western continent and I seem to have Man as a neighbor to the south, Pangaea as a neighbor to the west, and and Pythium as a neighbor far to the west (past Pangaea). In the middle of my empire I have some Arco remnants Im trying to stomp out before I move west on Pangaea (they seem most powerful).
On the eastern continent I have Ctis and Jotunheim. Ctis is now up against my east edge, but I doubt he can take out Forfax.

Turn Thirty
Holy cow. Lots of fighting.
Crap. Chuzrael got wasted in that territory by a bunch of slingers who came out of the woodwork.
Rago beat the Arcos out of Lettia. Hes moving further north with Valefor and Agrat to beat up the Arcos who just took over Saran Forest (undefended as it was).
A death match occurred. Pangaea beat up everyone and then a Titan from Ctis smushed him like a bug. Ctis won. Whatever. Im glad Ryleh didnt.
I recruit some more troops in all three capitals (Arco, Mictian, Abysia).

I go to bed. Im tired.

Turn Thirty-One
Okay, one more turn.
Magic gems found in Lettia and Bright Woods. Hooray!
I wiped out the Arcos to the north. My 3 commanders and 21 troops beat 1 commander with 33 troops. I killed his commander and 31 of his troops. Im bad. Yes I am.
I send Rago and his bunch to the east to finish the Arcos. I hope.
I recruit more and more and more troops. Lots of recruiting.
I hire a warlord to help Forfax out. I need to start searching for magic, too. Hrm.

Turn Thirty-Two (just to see if I can wipe out Arco)
More research complete. No new ritual spells. Dang. I wish I knew what level of Evocation I had researched up to. Id like to see what new combat spells I have. I guess it sort of grays out what I have yet to research so Im at Evocation level 5 and can cast falling fires. Yay! I want to cast second sun here eventually. I like it hot.
Winter is going to suck in Bright Woods. Further bulletins as events pertain.
Someone increased defense somewhere. Whee.
I lost two units and finally wiped the Arcos off the map. Thymbre the Titan is no more! Yay!

Bedtime now. Will plan out my domination of everyone else tomorrow or something.

I forget why I hired a warlord in Mictian. Forfax can command 135 troops by himself. Oh well. I hire some humanbred mobs for the new warlord in the east so he doesnt feel left out. I top of Baals army in the north.
I send Ragos horde east. Theres a great looking province lying just east of Mictian that will be a perfect land bottleneck if I can keep it, and Rago is heading off to take it.
Barbiel is heading out to pick up some remnants of my own troops that are scattered around the place.

Turn Thirty-Three
An ill omen in two woods. Wonder what that means.
A new death match is scheduled. Im not sending anyone those stupid Ryleh aliens will send an Illithid and paralyze my champion and tickle him to death. Someone sent a bloody Titan to the Last death match.
I line up my armies in Mictian and send them east into Ctis territory. I just want to capture and hold a single province but Ill take them over if they look weak. I leave Vex, my new warlord, and recruit some humanbred for him.
Barbiel picks up some dudes and heads back to Abysia.
I reinforce Abysia, Arco, and Mictian and have no gold left.

Turn Thirty-Four
Theres Unrest in Saran Forest, near Baal.
Ctis used their pretender god in the arena and totally dominated the thing. Again. They get a magic fork.
Argh! Man took my undefended province of Abysia. Time to break the siege AGAIN. I send everyone out (Barbiel, Fred, and Grogol) to beat back the barbarian idiots.
I took that province I wanted from Ctis. He only had a couple of commanders (and one got killed). I want to build a fort here, but can afford it. Yet. I have them hold the area for now and will lay off the recruiting and try to build up some cash.
I discovered statistics. I have a lot of dudes in the hall of fame. 5 of the 10 are mine. I seem to be winning! I have the most dominion and the most armies, at least. By biggest competition is Ryleh and Vanheim. I wonder how I defeat Ryleh? They live in the damn ocean.
I forgot about my spy, Vaphoron. Hes sitting on the Pangaean capital and its really weak I send Baal over to an adjacent province and may send him in to take the fort.
I may be able to commit to a two-front war now with Man and Ctis, but I think Ill concentrate on Man and try to defend against Ctis. And maybe nail Pangaea if they let me.

Turn Thirty-Five
Some zealots got smart and joined me in the Two Woods area. I send Vex down to pick them up.
Villians (?) tried to conquer the Kingdom of Dharma. And did. Dang. Its right in the middle of my empire. How embarrassing. Theres 40 Villians in that province now.
Man is getting on my nerves. He conquered Bright Woods, which was undefended, and is right next to my capital (Abysia).
Wow. My 3 commanders and 70 units killed Mans entire besieging force in Abysia. A commander and 40 units.
I send Baal in to conquer Pangaea Province. They only have five satyrs to defend with.
I send Barbiel out to retake Bright Woods. Hell head south and whale on Man.
It seems Ive a two war front on my side of the continent against Pangaea and Man. Hail Fred!
No recruiting this turn. Saving up for a castle.

Turn Thirty-Six
Cashal, the Ryleh pretender, cast the Ghost Ship Armada enchantment. Great. Looking forward to some ghost captain beating up my coast. Cashal also has the Eyes of God enchantment going. Fred is going to fix that and cast Fate of Oedipus to burn Cashals eyes out forever. Haha!
Glipha gets unrest. Jotunheim gets immigrants.
I took Pangaea from the foe with no losses. Yay! Lots of gold! I have to take the fortress.
I took Bright Woods also. No problem at all.
Ryleh came and conquered Spire Woods. ARGH! I had 4 commanders, 57 units, and 3 salamanders. He had 5 commanders and 98 undead beings, and I killed every single one of his units and he still won! I lost all my salamanders, 2 of my commanders, and 17 units. What! It said he only killed two of my commanders and they are all gone! That is so not fair. Why cant they just retreat back to Mictian? Now I only have Vex the Crappy Warlord defending the whole east front.
I send Vex back to Mictian with his army of Flagellants. I recruit some Abysian Infantry for him. Hell need them.
Baal continues to lay siege against Pangaea. If I can get his castle, I can preach them all into submission.
Vaphoron heads south to see what Pangaea is up to. They arent even responding to Baal yet.
Barbiel heads south to conquer a fort Man has there. Hes looking for Mans home province.

Turn Thirty-Seven
Blood burst from Cashals eyes. Ha ha! Dorky Ryleh.
Barbiel took Recenna, no problem, and knocked down a temple there. He heads west, to conquer Man.
Baal breached Pangaea. He storms the castle.
I realize that Agrat and Valefor made it from that stupid battle against the Ryleh. Too bad I lost Rago and Forfax I liked them. I send Valefor south to collect the remnants of the army with Agrat. Then Ill regroup in Mictian and head back east.
Pangaea seems to have no armies. Probably hiding in the damn trees. Vaphoron keeps looking for them.

Heading off to the mountains. Back later.

Turn Thirty-Eight
Extraneous: Found astral gems in Lombaria. I wonder what theyll be good for. Im not real up to speed on gems and their uses.
I send Vaphoron to the southwest to check out Mans capital. Apparently Pangaea is besieging Man. Good thing to spy on.
West Front: Pangaea attacked me in their province. Baal repelled them with no losses. Pangaea attacked Baal again. This time I lost I lost 20 units! He only lost 10! I need to get a different prophet. Baal seems to stink. I send him back to Arco to lick his wounds. I need to build up quick here before Pangaea presses their advantage.
South Front: Barbiel (my big army) conquered Birman Heights in the south. So much for Man. The troops are starting to starve, though. Hrm. I wonder what I need to do to prevent that. I send him back to Recenna to watch carefully for awhile.
East Front: Valefor picks up a bunch of scattered troops and heads to Mictian. Hell regroup there. Then I can work on recruiting as needed.
Thoughts: I get the feeling that Ryleh will eat me up if I dont protect every single coastal province. Theres no bottlenecks to use to defend myself.
Ive just been topping off my armies with no particular unit in Groups of ten. I need a strategy for my armies.

Turn Thirty-Nine
Man attacked Pangaea in Mans capital. Monan the Dragon, Mans Pretender, repelled the Pangaean forces with approximately 20 horned serpents.
West: Pangaea seems to be leaving me alone. Good thing, Baal needs more troops, and maybe a few co-commanders. I have Baal build a temple while he reGroups.
East: I regroup in Mictian. Just working on a nice big army or two Ive got two Warlords here. I have Agrat build a temple here, as well.
South: Pangaea attacked Barbiel in Recenna. Barbiel repelled them with one loss, killing 15 invaders. Abysians are tough! Im recruiting a few units to top off his troops. I hire Barbiel a Salamander so he has some magic backup.
Thoughts:

Turn 40
Messages: Man has a new Firbolg prophet. Whats a firbolg? I dont know.
West: I top off Valefors army. Wish I could hire lava warriors here.
East: I set Baal to start preaching. I have battleaxes and morningstars. I hire him some axes. I want to hire him a sorcerer, too. I set Agrat to preaching.
South: Pangaea took Birman Highs. It wasnt defended. He used horned serpents. I up my defense in the south to 10. My new Salamander is named Agrat. I renamed him Argh and send him south to help Barbiel.
Thoughts: Im getting pinched in the south between Pangaea, Man, and Vanheim is showing up now. I need more armies down there Im too spread out. Im also not making any progress in research and need more researchers.

Turn 41
Messages: Cashal the Eyeless (hahaha!) cast Eyes of God again. I thought I burned his eyeballs out before? What the heck? In Abysia a great summer festival was celebrated. Hooray for Fred! Man attacked Pangaea in Mans capital. A billion undead from Ryleh (the Admiral?) attacked Lombaria, a coastal province of mine and took it, with total losses. The province is now uncontrolled. Weird.
West: I send Baal to reclaim Lombaria and hire him some more axes.
East: Just building up and preaching away. I set Vex to patrol.
South: I start a new army in Abysia to add in the multiple-front chaos to the south. I have Argh search for magic. I think Ill move that big army around in a magic hunt. Not sure why, but I may need it later.
Thoughts: I need to figure out how fighting works, so I know if axemen or flails are better against centaurs or whatever. Im really just guessing away at it.

Turn 42
Messages: The shadow seers at Nexus brought me presents in Recenna. Its a worthless Ivy Crown to enhance spells I cant cast. Brigands took up camp in Recenna.
West: No problem in Lombaria. Moving the army back to the Arco castle.
East: That giant army of undead from Ryleh killed Vex and 42 units in Mictian! What the hell? How do I stop that from happening? I hire a herd of human axemen (theyre cheap) to help prevent another onslaught. Stupid Ryleh. I hate Ryleh.
South: No magic in Recenna. I send the army to Bright Woods to search. I continue to build up my new Warlords army. His name is Armati.
Thoughts: Just building up and waiting for that stupid skeleton army to decimate my army some more.

Turn 43
Messages: Yay, extra gold from taxes. Man repelled Pangaea from his capital again.
West: Pangaea has a lot of troops up at the capital. Scary. Im still working on building up Baals army again. I hire a bunch of archers for him. Thatll be new.
East: I hire some more humanbred and another Salamander to help out.
South: I build up my new army and have Barbiel search for magic.
Thoughts: Vanheim now controls my entire Southern border. Pangaea is up against my west side. Man is being eaten alive by those two. Ryleh is freaking me out.

Turn 44
Messages: Pangaea is moving in on my undefended west side.
West: I reinforce Baal with a few archers. Pangaea is right next door (yikes!).
East: Mictian, undefended, was lost to someone who promptly disappeared. I guess. Maybe those stupid Ryleh skeletons again. I continue to reinforce my army with humanbred.
South: Argh found no magic. Barbiels army moves south to attack Jotunheim. The idea is to push south and threaten his capital so he leaves me alone.
Thoughts: There seem to be a few powerful armies out there with lots of undefended provinces. Maybe a small guerilla war would work better than this large scale battle.

Turn 45
Messages: Ctis has a new prophet. Good harvest in Two Woods. More unrest in Mictian.
West: 40 harpies and satyrs under a huge lord of serpents is threatening Baal and has him under siege. Hes starting to starve. He has 30 good Abysians and 10 weak archers. Hes also a badass himself in this very high dominion province. Ill have Fred bombard the foe with fire and have Baal try to break the siege. Hope he doesnt die.
East: Just building up, getting ready to beat on Jotunheims giants.
South: Took Birman Heights, no problem. Starting to starve. I continue a bit west to the Man and Jotunheim capitals. These are farmlands so I think Ill be okay.
Thoughts: Wish I had my other Southern army operational already. Barbiel is spread thin.

Turn 46
Messages: Fred nailed 6 units and hurt 4 others. I like that spell. 11 flagellants joined up in Lettia.
West: Baal beat the snot out of the Pangaeans, killing 24 of his 34 troops and only losing 2 of his own. Dragonflies and Harpies are no match for Abysian soldiers. Their Father of Serpents ran away with a limp, a missing eye, and a chest wound. I send Baal chasing after him.
East: Nothing happening. Working primarily on defense here.
South: I took over Rhas from Vanheim. Recenna and Bright Woods wereboth lost to Vanheim. Vanheim has a huge army in Bright Woods! Thats sort of scary. I have Fred cast Fires from Afar on that army. I up defense in Abysia to 10. I set up the army and recruit a few more battleaxes and flails. I send Barbiel and Argh east to take Mans capital.
Thoughts: Im going to get nailed in Abysia.

Turn 47
Messages: Pangaea has a new prophet.
West: I chased Pangaea out of Lombaria. It looks like Pythium took Pangaeas capital when their back was turned. They have 40 militia and hydra tamers in Pangaeas old capital I have 27 Abysian infantry and 10 archers that Baal can attack Pythium with. I do it because what the hell.
East: Defense.
South: Mans capital is under siege by Barbiel. I send Armati out He has a good-sized army now. He heads south to Bright Woods. It turns out Vanheim was too chicken to attack me and is running south.
Thoughts: Hrm. Sort of an odd situation in the south Barbiel is several provinces away from Abysia and theres no line of Abysian provinces back to Abysia. Armati can run defense, I guess.

Turn 48
Messages: Pythium declared war on me. Some military in Two Woods were cursed for life.
West: I took Pangaea with no losses. Time to knock down the gate. This is my new West headquarters.
East: Ryleh took the Two Woods with his freak army of 5 commanders and 98 skeletons. It must be that Ghost Admiral spell hes using. I send Valefor south to retake the Two Woods.
South: I send Vophoron south to hunt the leader of that Vanheim army. Armati heads south to take a fort Vanheim built in Minz. Barbiel defends a counter from Man and continues the siege.
Thoughts: I wonder whats happening on the eastern continent

Turn 49
Messages: Good taxes in Arco.
West: Pythium counterattacked and lost three of eight commanders and both troops. Eight commanders and three troops. Thats a management issue. Baal storms the castle.
East: I retake the Two Woods with no problem and head back to Mictian. These ghost troops are a pain.
South: Armati got his *** handed to him in Recenna! He had 40 units and he was killed along with 13 of his troops. He lost to 3 commanders and 20 units, but killed 16 of them before he died. Wuss. I hire a Dragon to replace him and start staffing his army with Abysians. Vaphoron is looking for Vanheims capital.
SouthEast: Barbiel breaches the gate and storms.
Thoughts: I need more defense near Abysia. The biggest threat is from the south of there.

Turn 50
Messages:
West: Pythium attacked in force(6 commanders/30 units), but Baal (1/37) beat him good, killing 24 troops and a commander and losing a single unit. He captured the fortress.
East: Nothing. Just waiting here for money so we can go to town in the East.
South: Vanheim is back in Bright Woods with a good-size army. He chased my units back to Abysia (handy!) so my new Dragon Narmon has a good army already. Grogon stops researching and goes to gather some wayward troops.
SouthEast: Barbiel captured Mans capital and has a new base of operations.
Thoughts: Vanheim is my biggest threat to the south. A hint said they have invisible troops. That stinks. Id like to erase Man so I can go to town on Vanheim with Barbiel and Narmon both. Baal can help out too once he eradicates Pythium.

Time for bed. This game is cool.

Turn 51
Messages: Oh, great. Teach me to send Grogol off. He was mentally attacked and killed by an enemy mage. Thats useful to know. Bastard.
A hurricane hit the Two Woods province.
Silver mines found in Giphia. Yay, more money!
West: Crap for resources, but Baal is slowly restoring his army. Pythium seems to be threatening me again with 50 or so militia in a nearby province.
East: I have a good size army built up. Ryleh is in the neighboring province with no troops. I send my army north to reclaim some lands lost to that goddamn ghost admiral.
South: Recruiting more troops for Narmon. Starting some lava warrior recruiting.
SouthEast: I recruit a few more humans for Barbiel.
Thoughts: Hard to get moving. Im really inclined to just sit on my land and not attack. I want the foe to come to me and be crushed. Now that Man is wiped out I should head south with Barbiel and finish him off and scare Vanheim.

Turn 52
Messages: Jotunheim lost their God. He was permanently vanquished.
West: Baal is on defense, just preaching up a storm since I noticed the domain where he is happens to actually be negative.
East: Retook Stone Heavens with some losses (16 troops). Retaking another province, then will rebuild.
South: Vanheim took The Greater Wild. I guess I need to go on the offensive or hell gobble up all my defenseless areas. I send Fred, my God, with Narmon to the west to quash some Fay Boars.
SouthEast: I send Barbiel southwards, towards Vanheims capital.
Thoughts:

Turn 53
Messages: None
West: Preaching and Defense. Pythium is back with the army on my border.
East: Aw, crap! An arrow appeared in the sky (?) and struck Agrat (in the East) right in the heart and killed him. Instantly. Crap. Valefor had no trouble wiping out the villains in Dhara. I leave him there for now, to defend against the Vanheimians. I recruit a Dragon to replace Agrat.
South: The Vanheimians took Lettia without a fight. This has to stop. I took back Bright Woods by killing a single commander. I send Fred north to clean up after the Vanheim armies.
SouthEast: I took Rhas away with some losses (16). I continue marching south.
Thoughts: These Vanheim guys seem weak

Turn 54
Messages: None. No damn arrows from the sky. Stupid arrows.
West: Recruiting for Baal. Preaching. Hooray!
East: Barbiel heads west, trying to pincer Vanheim to the north. My new Dragon is Ben-Something (Ben). Hes recruiting a second army.
South: Vanheim continues marching north through my territory, conquering the Saran Forest. I took back Lettia though. I send Fred west and try to pincer Vanheim to the south.
SouthEast: I took the Grey Mountains from Vanheim, killing a couple commanders. Lava Warriors rock, even in the cold.
Thoughts: Vanheim is almost pushed over. Pythium is now coming south to threaten Mans castle, but I think I can get back there and throw him out once I deal with Vanheim.

Turn 55
Messages: Found fire gems in Mictian.
Dhara got some extra unrest. Its now at 84 (is that a lot?)
West: Building and preaching. I recruit a Warlord to help out.
East: Took back the Saran Forest with no losses. I send the troops north.
South: Vanheim took Gipha. He has to go south now. I think I can get him.
Took back The Greater Wild with no losses. Sending the troops east. Its hard to cut dudes off once they invade.
SouthEast: Rhas was retaken by Vanheim.
I took Vanheims capital with 7 losses and am destroying the gate. I send Argh back north to collect a few guys who ran away. Dorks.
Thoughts: Hrm.

Turn 56
Messages: Lettia got flooded.
Some folks immigrated to Giphia.
West: Building a new army for my new Warlord (under Baal).
East: Took Gipha. No problems.
South: Vanheim took the Kingdom of Dhara. Again. Trying to cut them off is tough.
SouthEast: Vanheim kicked me out. I better regroup and head back.
I cant. They kicked me out of the Grey Mountains, too. Cut me off.
Argh died while retreating. Wuss.
Thoughts: I hate Vanheim.

Turn 57
Messages: Man was conquered. Permanently.
West: Wandering around, taking back provinces from Vanheim.
East: Crap! Baal got nailed by an arrow from the sky. He lived, but has an ugly wound. Then he got assassinated. Crap! I hate needing a new prophet.
Im sending my new Warlord, Lahafiel, to Pythium to whack those bastards.
South: Abysia was invaded, but I still hold the castle. Vanheim will pay. I have Fred break the siege.
SouthEast: Narmon (?) a new Warlord seems to be my only survivor. I tell him to hold down the fort and start recruiting. I have Vaphoron assassinate an enemy commander with a big army.
Thoughts: ARGH in the Southeast.

Turn 58
Messages: Cashal cast Eyes of God again. Or maybe Ghost Ship Armada.
West: I took Gol Amrod and razed the temple there. I send the gang back to Pangaea. Pythium had a big army.
East: Kingdom of Dhara retook without resistance.
South: I beat nine kinds of hell out of Vanheim in Abysia. Finally.
SouthEast: Narmon was whacked by some assassin who was Ethereal. Lame.
Vaphoron killed the Herse commander of the enemy.
Vanheim took over Mans capital. I hold the castle but the walls are damaged.
I recruit a new Warlord in Mans capital to handle the army.
Vaphoron comes north to help out.
Thoughts: Worried about the SouthEast, but ready to write it off as a loss.

Turn 59
Messages: Found some gems in Gipha and then it got flooded and everyone died.
West: Recruiting a Dragon to preach the Pythium to death.
East: Ben holds down the fort, researches, and recruits a Salamander to help.
South: Im hooking Valefor up with Freds army and sending them both south to
beat up Vanheim. I hire a Warlock to start research up again.
SouthEast: Vanheim is knocking down my walls.
Vophoron attacks the commander.
Thoughts: Need research. Getting sick of Falling Fire.

Turn 60
Messages: Research complete. Yay!
West: Rebuilding to go hit Pythium again. Sending Cron the Dragon to the west.
East: Building up an army for defense. Lots of axes. Researching a lot here.
South: Dhara improved its defense by five. Great. Need to fix unrest. Recruiting a small militia army with a commander to go around and beat up unrest. Ill call them police.
I took Recenna away from Vanheim. No problem. Fred continues south.
Valefor continues south. My new Warlocks in Abysia are set to research.
SouthEast: Vaphoron wiggled his finger and killed Clovis the Wussy Priest. Hes attacking again.
Thoughts: South/East/SouthEast are getting sort of mashed all together tactically as I fight off Vanheim. I have a small army left far to the SouthEast in Mans capital, which is besieged. I have two larger armies heading in from the north (Fred and Valefor).

Turn 61
Messages: Defense got raised in Mictian cause some bailiff is a scaredy-cat.
West: Someone is mentally attacking my warlord up here, but hes okay.
East: Just sitting and researching.
South: Valefor took back Bright Woods with no resistance.
Fred razed the temple in Minz with no problems.
Fred and Valefor are wandering around, kicing Vanheims arse.
SouthEast: Vaphoron killed some Vanheim Herse. No problem. Hes cool. He keeps hunting.
Mans capital is still besieged. Still recruiting for the eventual attack.
Thoughts: Cleaning up Vanheim will take awhile. No problem.

Turn 62
Messages: Frateborn, my police chief, got an arrow in the heart, but lived.
I can hire a new prophet. Hrm.
Pythium: Pythium took Gol Amrod. Undefended.
East Fortress: Sitting and researching.
Vanheim: Vaphoron, my slayer, was killed by a Vanherse (apparently some mage).
Valefor took Uliathum back. No problem. Moves to Hiperboce to help with Mans capital which is under siege.
Vanheim took Recenna again. Argh. Back up north I have to go now.
Fred razed a temple in Witches Copse. Starving, going to Denda Nigra.
Thoughts: Screw north. Im going to go hit Vanheim at its capital.

Turn 63
Messages: Hurricane in Lettia. Winds into diamonds in Lombaria.
Pythium: Researching a bit, need a few more units and Im off to attack.
East Fortress: Sitting and researching.
Vanheim: Fred kill four commanders in Dendra Nigra. Bunch of Herses. Then a pile of independents (knights and militias) were trounced by Fred. Who rocks. Still starving, he moves to Caelums old capital.
Vanheim has a little army that tok Minz. Its taking lots of undefended territory. I hate Vanheim.
Valefor took Hiperboce and moves into Mans capital. Just in time, because the capital was just breached. I hope hes enough to defeat the large Vanheim force. I wish Fred was here.
Im starting a new army in Abysia to help trounce Vanheim.
Thoughts: Vanheim sucks.

Turn 64
Messages: Fred was mentally attacked, but resisted.
Wow. 500 extra gold in Arcos capital.
New mine in Witches Copse. Things are going my way.
Undefended Witches Copse was conquered by Vanheim. Crap.
Pythium: I set Cron to become my new prophet. Dominion is weak up here.
East Fortress: Those stupid undead are back, but Mictian defended itself well.
Vanheim: Crap! I lost both commanders and 30 units defending Mans capital! Crap! Vanheim took Mans capital with 98 units. Bastards.
Fred took Caelums capital and breached it on the same turn. He storms in.
Recruiting a new Dragon in Abysia with lava warriors.
Thoughts: I hate Vanheim.

Turn 65
Messages: I have a new prophet. Yay Fred!
Pythium: Pythium took undefended Uliathum.
I send Lahatiel, my Warlord, to conquer Pythium. Cron, my prophet, stays behind to preach.
East Fortress: Mictian was undefended and taken by the foe but I dont see any foe stupid game.
Vanheim: Vanheim went from Man to Hiperboce, chasing out my units there. I need commanders.
Fred too Caelum. No problem. He starts heading west to beat on Vanheim.
I keep recruiting for my new Dragon in Abysia.
Thoughts: I hate Vanheim. To death. Each turn I need to check my policeman and start raising my defense in my undefended provinces. I want to hire a researcher every turn I can, in Abysia.

Turn 66
Messages: Frateborn, my police chief, was hit by another arrow. Poor bastard.
Huricane in Stone Heavens. Dang.
Pythium: Lahatiel was mentally attacked, but survived.
Lahatiel is marching into Pythium. Took Gol Amrod with no losses and continues into Pythiums heart, though starving.
East Fortress: Nothing happening. Boring on the Eastern Front.
Vanheim: Fred took Bhammot with no problem and continues to Trottern.
Thoughts: I hope Fred can take Vanheims capital. Then I think I have them. Its a gamble I dont want my God to die yet.

Turn 67
Messages: Found Astral Gems in some forest.
Pythium: Cron was mentally attacked, but resisted. Who is doing that?
East Fortress: Lahatiel took Pythium and is bashing down the gate. No real losses yet.
Vanheim: Fred beat Vanheim out of Trottern with some losses (9). He marches into Vanheim which seems to have a small defense.
I set a Warlock to start searching for magic sites. My policeman is going around to collect the scattered army remnants.
Thoughts: Hrm. Dumb Vanheim.

Turn 68
Messages:
Pythium: Cron got nailed by an arrow from our mystery archer. He lived, but he is wounded.
East Fortress:
Vanheim: Fred resisted a mental attack from another mystery source. He then took Vanheim, no problem, and is sieging the place.
Vanheim took Bright Woods with a big force. I hope Nygon, my Dragon, can resist if Abysia is attacked.
My police chief was mentally attacked, but resisted. Again.
Thoughts: Im done thinking.

Turn 69
Messages: Frateborn mentally attacked, but survived. Again.
Hurricane in Lombaria, but a good harvest, too.
Earth gems in Saran Forest.
Pythium: Lahatiel defeated Pythiums attacking force (2 whole units).
East Fortress: Sitting around doing nothing.
Building a new army. Hired a Dragon to lead it.
Vanheim: Vanheim took undefended Lettia.
Fred breached Vanheim. He storms in.
Sending Tagor, my Abysia Dragon, north to beat up Vanheim. Maybe.
Thoughts: Whee Vanheim may be dead now. Hes all over the place, but has no castles, except the one in Man. Time to start whittling him down to size.

Turn 70
Messages: Nothing, really.
Pythium: Lahatiel beat some attackers from Pythium.
East Fortress: Ryleh has a big army just east of me. I sit tight for now, but am itching to send Ben west to beat on Vanheim. Ive almost got them.
Vanheim: Vanheim took the Saran Forest, chasing out a few troops Id forgotten.
Tagor took Lettia. Moving further north to chase the Vanheim troops southerly into Fred coming Northerly.
Vanheim took the Grey Mountains.
Fred had gone north, but forgot the army. I guess it was under the command of the guy who died. Oops. He heads back south to get it.
Vanheim is trying to take back Caelum. I hire a Warlord and five Salamanders to help defend. I need a beast trainer next turn.
Thoughts: Not thinking.

Turn 71
Messages: Gipha starts slave labor, improving production markedly.
Good taxes in Dharma. Yay! Then Vanheim took it over. Sheesh.
Ctis was eradicated. So much for Ingvar.
D-Abysia Im building a small army for Hagathor, a Warlord. I plan to run little armies around to retake provinces.
D-Mictian: Holding. Researching. Ben is staying put, though hes itching to head west Ryleh has a big army to the east I need to block.
D-Pangaea: Frateborn mentally attacked, but resists again. Tough little dude.
Frateborn patrols the Pangaean province. Hiring him a comrade to
D-Lombaria Cron is here preaching (near Pythium). Hiring a Warlord to mobilize the troops and attack Pythiums other holdings to the south.
D-Caelum: I have some troops under siege here. Trying to hire a Warlord to command them since they havent a commander.
A-Vanheim: Tagor took back the Saran Forest. No problem. Continues east.
Vanheim took its capital back, and its under siege. But Fred is there. And the sieging force is a single priest. Haha! Thats funny.
A-Pythium: Lahatiel beat more attackers. Little piddly attackers. Hes still sieging the gates of Pythium. This is getting old.
Thoughts: I keep forgetting to raises defense in my provinces. This war is turning into an internal policing effort (my country is about 15 provinces now), a southwestern front attacking Vanheims capital, a southeastern front attacking Vanheim in Caelums capital, a western effort against Pythium, and a holding action on the Eastern front. Im starting to think in terms of fortresses.

Turn 72
Messages: Evocation level 7. I can do fire storms now! Well, Fred can.
Extra gold in Bhamot. And an ill omen. Oh well.
Thoughts: Setting up small defenses in castles of 10 axemen in the garrison.
D-Abysia: Defense: 10, no garrison
Setting up a defensive garrison, with the warlock researchers.
Two Woods was taken by Vanheim.
Tagor took back the Kingdom of Dharma. He goes to Two Woods.
Hagathor heads south to reclaim some territory.
Increased defenses in Lettia to 10.
D-Mictian: Defense: 10, 10 axemen
Sorath, a Salamander, was killed in a mental attack.
Ben moves out to block Vanheims retreat from Two Woods.
D-Arco: Defense: 10, 6 axemen.
Frateborn patrolling. Killed five unresters. Unrest at 46.
Krafe, my new commander, heads out to collect scattered troops.
Hiring a few more axemen. Almost out of cash.
D-Pangaea: Defense: 0, 10 axemen.
Cron casts Fires from Afar at Pythiums capital.
Transferred troops to Karne, new Warlord. Hiring more army for him.
D-Caelum: The fort was breached. They are going to storm me.
D-Vanheim: Fred killed a bunch of enemy in Vanheim. No problem.
Fred casts Fires from Afar at Pythiums capital to help Lahatiel.
A-Pythium: Pythia was repulsed again by Lahatiel. Hes still got the place under siege. Still. Why is this taking forever?

73-78
Ryleh attacked from everywhere and killed Fred. Pythium came out of nowhere and knocked me back to Pangaea with no army left. Mictian is surrounded by R'yleh troops and Vanheim controls every province that I don't have an army in, I think. Thats it for me. The wealth of troops and interactions in this game is amazing. I wonder what other armies are fun to play

Vanheim's invisible armies seem pretty tough for Abysia, with it's fewer more expensive troops. R'yleh's ability to come from anywhere right out of the ocean is hard on a race that enjoys heat. Makes it tough to find ways to get into the ocean. Oh well. If you read this far, I'm impressed.

Norfleet is an unknown quantity at this point

Yup. This is a perfect example of the total confusion of a newbie. Great AAR. I'm thinking new players are probably more able to relate to these than stories of uncontested AI buttkicking from the vets.

Joe, that was one of the most enjoyable reads in ages. I love this line:

Nothing like a wild fire dart-hucking demon banisher to throw the fear of Fred into the enemy.

I came here looking for help having just been stomped playing Abysia. My game went much like yours.

Thanks for the great ready

I love your style, it has a nice sarcastic edge to it.

The first Abysia ARR you wrote was soooooo funny too.

Great report. As a fellow newbie who just squares off with the computer -- you were swamped. You made the map more crowded then it recommended.

Personally, I put more emphasis on getting my research started and magic backup for my troops, but what do I know?

Cool. Better luck next time.

I liked your writing style as well. A very enjoyable read.

I hope that you do another one of these. I bet it would be a hoot if you tried playing Ermor or R'ley - the two empires who gave you so much trouble. Maybe even Vanheim?
