Dominions2 Runtime Error
Hope someone can help !
Running Dominions2 Demo with XP Home with Geforce TI4600 card on 44.67 drivers but getting frequent C++ Runtime abnormal termination program errors with a crash to desktop. Entry in stderr file says: "Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)"
Anyone provide some help with this - game looks good, if it can be stable.
Thanks

Re: Dominions2 Runtime Error
Try replacing the sdl.dll file in the Dominions II directory with the one from the Dominions I demo. It worked for me (check the stickied thread about my prob with Win98SE). Who knows, it might work with XP as well.....

Thanks HJ
Yes, tried that and also stopped unncessary services in XP (which has sorted out problems with other games)... seems to be a graphics or resolution issue. The map screen looks stable but the menues on the "snowflake" turn screen and the battle screens flicker usually causing the CTD.

Re: Dominions2 Runtime Error
Try going to the windowed mode (alt-enter) when the game starts, and then in the windowed mode from main menu click video preferences-fullscreen mode. That usually remedies the flickering trick for me (at least I think so, I figured that out today).
My problem with SDL parachute thing (whatever that is) was that the game wouldn't initialize at all, and that's why I thought that you have the same problem, so I offered the same solution.

I found that if I keep it windowed mode and just expand the window, it remains stable enough to play with just the odd flickering and rare CTDs. Not a bad little game... enjoying the demo a lot... absolutely no idea what I'm doing or why it happens but still enjoyable! Cheers for the advice!
